Abida Parveen set to collaborate with Sweden-based DJ to create new genre-bending songs. 

Sufi powerhouse and legendary singer Abida Parveen has never been afraid of experimenting with her music. She has collaborated with the likes of pop musician Atif Aslam and rock star Ali Azmat but is now pushing the boundaries further by becoming the first musician of her generation to collaborate with an EDM producer from Stockholm. The collaboration with DJ Shahrukh will be the first of many more to come.

Abida ji said that “music is much more than what can be understood as a single language or just one single genre. Music is fluid. It is always evolving. I will always be true to my roots but I will also evolve. I will embrace whatever new is out there and try to add the Sufi essence to it if at all possible.”

DJ Shahrukh said that Abida ji is one of his favorite Pakistani artists. “ I had produced a bootleg of her song ‘Ghoom Charakhra’ which went viral on YouTube. I have played it live in cities like Prague, Copenhagen, Amsterdam and of course Stockholm and it has driven the crowd wild every single time. I am so lucky to be able to do an official collaboration with Abida ji. I have waited patiently for this to happen and I know this is going to be worth the wait.”

This is the first of the series of originals and remixes.
