 Mãe de mais de 20 filhos, dona Odete, mais conhecida como Odete de Pilar (cidade do interior da Paraiba) tem músicas que aprendeu nas brincadeiras de coco e ciranda em Pilar e muitas outras de sua própria composição, que como ela mesma disse, são “tirados da cabeça”.  Suas músicas possuem muita influência africana ou cabocla, características fortes do coco de roda nordestino.

Have you ever wondered what throwing Jimi Hendrix, Ray Charles, Notorious BIG, Gramatik, Tipper and great brazilian artists such as Tim Maia, Di Melo, Roberto Carlos and Sabotagem in a blender, grinding it all up and adding a touch of bass fuelled funky glitch madness in the mixture would sound like?

Well that’s exactly what the Shaka trio have cooked up for you! Originally from Florianópolis but now residing in the dense skyscraper forests of São Paulo, these three musical mad professors / funkenstein creators have been imploding dancefloors with their sonic treats across Brazil and the world.

They have played alongside Criolo, Marcelo D2, Otto, Black Alien, 5 a Seco, Tom Zé and Bixiga 70 in festivals and nightclubs such as Coala Festival, Tribaltech, Universo Paralello, Lions Nightclub and Clash Club amongst others. And have just recently had their first official release Spacefunk EP by Freshly Squeezed music reach a Top 5 position on Juno Download.

“The title track is a collision of louche cocktail sounds and colossal bass farts, Crumble is a stop-starty slab of instrumental glitchy blues-hop, Freedom chops up the gospel soul and Boogie brings you glitchy-tonk – it’s a bit like Jools Holland meeting Tipper with the emphasis on the Tipper.
