Shalamar is a singer/songwriter whose style is a blend of different music genres such as Soul, Afro - Jazz, Afro Pop, Hip Hop and House then adding that classical touch. 

She started her vocal training in Ochrim Music School (South Africa). She is no stranger to big stages having started with guest appearances in the popular South African soap Generations in 2003. 

It was however her performances with the Joyous Celebration Musical Group (South African Music Award winners for Best Selling DVD, 2014) that saw her singing soar to unprecedented levels. She got spotted by the world’s acclaimed musical African Footprint where she was given the opportunity to sing on Former SA President Thabo Mbeki’s inauguration ceremony in 2004. 

Performing alongside Presley Chweneyagae (Oscar Award winner from the film TSOTSI) also opened doors for her to be linked up with METSWAKO (a nominee for the best Southern African new comer award group, 2003). The single INTOKAZI (www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsfLRAXEOm0) was then born which further changed her terrain, setting the platform for her to garner not just local but also international attention.

After moving to the UK, she went into TV Presenting with Afro-Media News Agency which produced content for the African Television Network (ATV). She can now be seen in the Manchester International Roots Orchestra, a place she has always longed to be a part of.
