After a brief lockdown-prompted hiatus - Duncan Forbes and his new 49North imprint, return for their 3rd outing... a 4-track EP, made up of 2 DF originals and a remix of each. One from the universally revered UK House & Techno don, Mr G; and the other courtesy of Pépe - without doubt one of the most in-demand artists on the underground right now.

The neon-lit, analogue House of 'Bluer Than Blue' kicks things off - it's liquid melodies and propulsive rhythm reeling you right in from the get-go.

'The Next Step' meanwhile, is a vast and sonoros, breakbeat-driven beast - chocked full of otherwordly atmosphere and an alluring sense of the mystical.

Close pal and DF collaborator - Mr G, then takes the shimmering, multi-color heart of 'Bluer Than Blue' and distills it down into one super-tight, bare-bones, swing-loaded roller; topped off with a seductive whispered vocal, skating rides and a perfectly-poised low-end lead.

That is before Pépe wraps things up with his unique spin on 'The Next Step'; for which he keeps the signature mood more or less intact - but brings a more euphoric, wide-eyed optimism to proceedings, as well as an inspired ethereal-meets-junglist central character.

The Italian Berlin Based @ruffstuffcrew lands on @this-is-not records with a banger track. Morale is clearly reflecting what House music means, the 90's drums in combination with a melodic arpeggio and a strong “Detroit” chord creates something which smashes
definitely the dance floor. 

Alongside “Morale” our residents Alfa Cornae (aka Marco Dassi) and we.amps dropped two crazy and well-structured remix that highlight the original while maintaining its own strong style.

A true pioneer of the sound, Detroit's Filthiest exposes the falsehoods of society via an electro-funk expedition on wax.

Born in Baghdad Iraq and raised in Detroit, Detroit's Filthiest aka DJ Nasty aka 313 Bass Mechanics aka Digitek has been releasing genre defining
tracks since his first record in 1996. After releasing many notable records he went on to create his own label MCEC Motor City Electric Company to release records at a furious pace.  This was the era when ghetto tech and electro-funk was selling like hot cakes, many selling out locally without national or international distribution. FFWD to today, Detroit's Filthiest wake up call came when Universal approached him for a 313 Bass Mechanics sample to be cleared for Disclosure's "Pass Out".  He has since released records on Casa Voyager, Rotterhague, Defected, Exit, FTP and now Philthtrax XL and still produces records from Detroit as he did in 1996.

Nobody was getting out. The rules has been issued and so help him they would be obeyed, even if it meant blowing the whole damn thing down to the ground. Looking outwards from windows, people watched from little rooms as the outside world slowly began to fade and fall away. Day by day the loneliness grew, like a monster in the room. The green spaces in which they'd use to gather, run and dance were now empty and deserted. A few stragglers were left behind but they wouldn't last long. 

Dj Physical is set to release a gorgeous new EP via Deviant Episode. This track is rather aptly titled given the current set of circumstances. This tracks called "Lock Down".
