Exclusive: Jamaimoi - Hardcore Definition (Matthieu Faubourg Remix)

Enjoying the Portuguese lifestyle Parisian artist Jamaimoi traded the French metropolis for a life in Lisbon, which climate- and geographic-induced supports his preferences of surfing, producing and playing music on the local beaches as well as wine-bars. The latest results of Jamaimoi's Portuguese adventure called Frenchghettotouch can be found on barbecue and includes remixes from Selfhood and Matthieu Faubourg. The latter took on remix duties for Hardcore Defintion and delivers a remix as smooth as sunny as perfect as Jamaimoi himself would have done it under Lisbon sun. However the Vienna-citizen added his trademark sound, namely a rather housey bass line to the track, and reworks the Jamaimoi's vocal sample of Hardcore Definition to make it fit into his own sound spectrum and make it an element of the track itself rather than a standing out vocal that's put over an instrumental. The result is a well-defined and smooth House track, whose intriguing dreaminess – evoked by the reworked vocal – makes one hope for better days, may that on a Lisbon beach or in Vienna.

Jamamoi's EP Frenchghettotouch will be released on barbecue on March 26th, 2021.

Abandon Silence crew returns with the third release on their label. Continuing to shine a light on the finest producers from their native Liverpool, AS003 comes from the two of the brightest talents in the city, Matrefakt. The EP contains six tracks, including three original productions by Matrefakt. 

We premiere the lead single, "Band Of Acid" - a pure dance floor driven number, blending astute sampling with deep and saturated acid textures. Kicking the record off as it means to continue and setting the tone for the heavy bodied remixes on the flip.

‘Good Face’ is the new EP from PolyGlove which finds the duo channelling sounds from old school raves to dystopian Sci-Fi futures. At first the EP explores the darker side of these future visions but as the record progresses it harps back to a brighter optimistic past, a time before the world became so self aware.

Following on from their last release ‘Leisureplex’ the duo aimed for a grittier and more aggressive sound which was achieved thanks to the re-collaboration with mixing engineer Rían Trench (Leo Drezden, Solar Bears, Panikatax).

The EP also features a remix of 'Good Face' from Rain (Oisín McGovern). The mix hones in on the original songs grit while also introducing trippy syncopation to the rhythm section and atmospheric delays creating a dizzying merky terrain verging into a harder sounding Kraftwerk circa ‘Electric Cafe’.

"Incredibly versatile artist, Amédée Ô Suriam was one of those flamboyant souls touched by grace. Percussionist, author, composer, singer, stylist, sculptor, the Martiniquan put his divine inspiration at the service of a hybrid and visionary creation. His sudden death in 1992, while in his thirties, left behind him "Tension Hot-Shot", his only solo release from 1989. A resolutely avant-garde track, whose fusion of traditional African and Caribbean music with the beginnings of the house movement in Europe is underlined by the subtitle "Afro House" on the A side of the EP, a term that was barely used until then. It is this mysteriously precursory track that Chineurs de House has found, remastered and reissued today, finally shedding light on the fascinating work of an artist who had fallen into oblivion."
