PREMIERE: Tracey Cooper - Understanding [Open Sound]

One of the North East’s rising dance music stars, REES joins the Shall Not Fade roster with four killer post-disco influenced cuts. The producer and brains behind label/party brand Paradiso is a need-to-know for anyone with an eye on Northern dance culture, gaining acclaim at home and abroad with a US tour under his belt.

Romanticism EP is as infectious, upbeat and danceable as REES’ previous outgoings; ‘Nipote’ kicks it off with purpose A real retro rhythm with an exuberant edge, it pulses into ‘Velvet Dreams’ Linn Drum style beat and dark proto house melodies, by which point the spring in your step is unavoidable. The title track is a synth-driven Giorgio Moroder-esque epic, while ‘Delta’ is the rawest of the bunch where stripped-back percussion takes centre stage.

Romanticism EP drops November 12th via Shall Not Fade.
