From the depths of the apartment, swirling, downed, fussy drums are heard. An arabesque of loud vocal samples playfully jumps over the hummocks of a funky beat, making its way through a string of distorted, sometimes convulsive rhythm.

Someone is rushing around the room, putting on shiny leggings in front of the mirror and setting off the eyelids with the color of Jacko's last breath, and someone, blurring in a euphoric smile, can't get up from the chair an hour before the party.

The sounds of vicious, garage pleasure can continuously replace each other in different guises: charismatic bass incarnation, the dominance of sharp and lumpy dubstep bottoms, ripe synthesizer loops, irrational 2-step patterns and even compliant jungle drops with ragga tunes.

Each element is equivalent, so anything can get into your head. This music, which has rightfully become an integral part of British culture, grew up together with its listeners, who did not have time to blink an eye, as they got families, replacing bright parties with lamp gatherings at the home sound system.

This is not about deconstructing the style, but about its modern reincarnation and an attempt to add more soul to the second various within the framework of the Spezial Series from GLBDOM.

Presenting the musical icon and garage pioneer Jeremy Sylvester for the SOLITUDE guest mix series entry 034 🔥 

Jeremy is an artist that’s been incredibly influential not only to us, but for the WHOLE of the U.K. music scene since the early 90’s. We knew we wanted to feature him on the series way before we launched the page, and we can’t lie it’s a wicked feeling to get this one out there, spreading good vibes and top quality music via one of the greatest artists to ever do it. Straight up royalty business 👑 

From rolling out on pirate radio stations in the 90’s, to smashing the dance in low capacity, intimate raves, all the way to global shows playing out to huge crowds; he’s been there from the early days of U.K. garage and beyond, with a back catalog of tunes far larger than almost any producer in the scene. 

Whether he’s producing and playing as his real name, or as the original duo Club Asylum (regarded as one most famous names in garage) responsible for the timeless tracks: Love Shy (Remix from Kristine Blond’s original) Freek Me Up, Get Up - the list goes on. And that’s just as Club Asylum, let alone his other aliases; Sly, Groove Connection, Deep Cover and more. Before Jeremy, UKG was barely heard of in the charts or to the wider public. This man changed the game for real 📈

More recently, he’s been dropping music as a duo with @djwhooshhh as Club Connoisseur for @urbandubzmusicpr that Jeremy runs. ‘Rudeboy Ting’ is their most recent release and trust us when we say it lives up to the name. 

We’ve been truly blessed to have his time and talent directed our way. Honestly, we could write a caption listing his accolades that would span across hundreds of paragraphs, but we’ll let the music do the talking 🔊 

You can catch him playing in Manchester TOMORROW at @soupmanchester alongside the massively talented @finnmccorry. He plays live sets fairly frequently, so if you ever see his name on a lineup it’s a no brainier to roll through and have a vibe up.
