Zero-Sum Game [Shall Not Fade]

It is the end of a long and dusty road for compilation series, The Wild Army, with Volume 8 the final instalment. Victory can be claimed over, err, something (mediocre music/dance floors/humans).

True to form, it's a global EP with artists from Mexico City, Sydney, Naples, and Hebden Bridge. First up, label favourite La Guardia De La Luz does what he does best, with en epic psychedelic disco mid-tempo chugger. Subtle rhythm guitar, bouncing bass and 80s pads set the scene for strings and stabs as they work their magic.

Next up, Uomo Meccanico takes the red eye for a late night hypnotic slice of electronic house music. Shimmering stabs, trippy pads and filtered vocal sample build into epic deepness. One for the floor as the light creeps in at 6am and everything starts going sideways.

Johnny Deep takes his electronic funk low and slow. Pops, glitches, and burbles provide some serious swing over a bottom end that rides the sub. Slow burning dance floor ignition guaranteed. 

Finally, Flash Atkins brings the soul with a track that is as loose and easy as a Mediterranean summer. Amy Collins sings of an early morning walk home after a loved up encounter on the dance floor as Dan Goldman lays the keys and grooves for some disco love.

@infinitewade 's remix of “True God” takes the original track into darker, more hypnotic territory. While retaining the serene and ethereal atmosphere of the original, the remix adds a dub techno edge, with its emphasis on low-end frequencies and hypnotic rhythms. The result is a sexy and mysterious soundscape that is both inviting and unsettling. The interplay of partially present basslines, consistent percussion, and a haunting blend of synthesizers and electronic drums creates a captivating sonic journey that is both minimal and mesmerizing.

In keeping with the collective's original philosophy, ‘VA II’ mixes styles and energies, bringing together 11 tracks of varying shades. From Dubstep to IDM, the compilation offers a wealth of sound that best represents the musical eclecticism defended by Silence Collapse. 

VA II will be available on 24 January on Bandcamp and all streaming platforms. All sales will be donated to the Lyon-based charity "Tous à la musique".

Otik joins the Shall Not Fade family serving up five killer jams for their new ‘Basement Tracks’ series.

London based DJ // Producer Otik has been putting out some eclectic records over the past few years, including stand out twelves on Keysound, Nous & DEXT, amongst others. His latest outing sees him share some of his finest work to date, dark, moody synths dance gracefully with heavy drum sequences and weight basslines on ‘Zero-Sum Game’ EP.
