Secret Crunch is a label fresh out of the oven run by fellow Vienna-based artists Roman Rauch and Moony Me. 
Both musically rooted in HipHop, Soul, Funk and Disco and expressing themselves mainly through House Music, it was just a matter of time until they first collaborated together. Thoughts about releasing their output together through an own label came naturally soon after.
The first release of Secret Crunch is a pure collaboration between them plus two additional remixes – one by Gnork and another by Medlar & Ishmael.

Jump Source is a collaborative effort between two pals, Francis Latreille & Patrick Holland (Project Pablo). It all started on a Thursday afternoon in Montreal's Mile End at Francis' studio. Over an MPC 2000XL, Moog Source, modular kit, and some Junos, the two tweaked breaks and blended pads until things sat just right. "Guide to Action" fits 4 tracks, some of which include solos, vocals, and amusing fadeouts.

He traipsed around the empty streets of the dilapidated town, cutting a lonely, somewhat ghostly figure. He sighed, his shoulders heavy. Everyone he knew had gone. Moved on to pastures new. He missed them dearly. Missed the laughter, the fun.

Wandering up one of the side streets, he realised he'd stumbled into unfamiliar territory. "How odd," he muttered to himself, curiously. "I've never been up here before." As he meandered further up the cobbled street his ears pricked up. A beat carried on breeze and down towards him. Where was it coming from? He followed it, like a hound follows a scent, until he caught it. He stopped outside what appeared to be an old tavern, nervously and cautiously he pushed the door ajar. Joyous laughter and music filled the room. He stood staring in awe and began to cry tears of happiness. 

Bioroots Drift EP is the inaugural release on Enclave Records, a label whose ethos is to deliver house, disco and techno without all the gimmicks. They aim to be "solace from the meaningless, the throwaway, the empty."

The water poured elegantly from the edge of the cliff. The wet rocks were lined with moss and wild flowers due to the damp conditions. As she walked under the falls she looked upwards towards the great blue sky, her mind a million miles away from the problems and stresses that she had left back home. Deep in the jungle she was now very much at ease, the warm humid air which surrounded her was intoxicating and deeply comforting. 

Axefield is next to release on the evolutionary Atomnation record label. Not ones to stand still the label turns its focus towards an up and coming producer with a penchant for deep. dusty house.

Over the past three years Melbourne’s Albrecht La’Brooy have patiently cultivated their own space within Australia’s prolific electronic music scene. Deeply rooted in techno’s ambient influences, the duo improvise their compositions with an overarching approach that breaks away from techno’s conventional presentation. Recorded in one take from beginning to end, Escape Velocity sees Albrecht La’Brooy take on the Voyage aesthetic and principles to create a twenty five minute odyssey spanning four passages, to be played continuously across the 12” medium. Utilising both sparse, drifting ambient palettes and driving, machine-led rhythms, Escape Velocity is a pensively uplifting account of future travels through space and the ninth instalment to the Voyage catalogue.

PREMIERE : Albrecht La'Brooy - Gravity Assist

Mysterious human/producer/feline, Meowsn' has been on the FH radar for a hot minute now - pumping out solid content; waiting - poised - for a label to strike. Looks like we caught him just at the right time, as word on the proverbial street is he has a HUGE release with a VERY exciting label in the works - keep ears to the ground and peepers peeled!

In the meantime though, listen to 'All The Girls They Want To Spoil Me' - a standout submission to the series. Fractured sampling in the intro and intermittently throughout might make you think you've irrevocably shoved your dads James Brown cassette into the USB port of your computer. DW, you haven't and if anything it's testament to the young Russians' production ability. A gorgeous track with an enchanting soulful aesthetic - a real keeper.

Some more Mexican music on Quintessentials! This time from long time buddy 4004, another driving force in Mexico and already an established producer with releases on labels like Freerange, Faces, Vicario Ltd or Quintessentials. Mostly doing stuff on his own, Quintessentials 56 features a great collab track with Stuttgart’s Stylus Heat (currently working as Blunted Monks on Philpot). I’m not sure if we find 4004 reasons to like you Gerardo, but there are definitely two: you’re a cool fella and we love your music - simple as that!

After the release of his first track «Successes & Failures» in 2017 on Pont Neuf compilation Habemus Paname Vol. II, TAOS unveils his first EP Nights. It presents a real auditory, temporal and geographical journey, while paying tribute to its many influences.

The EP opens with “Before at the Flat, «The Aquarium», Conant Gardens, 10:00 PM”, referring directly to Detroit and J. Dilla in a lunar breakbeat ambience. The second track “At the Discotheque, «The Very One», Shibuya, 1:30 AM” offers a more funky trip with Japanese influenced sounds and an homage to Daft Punk. “At the Club, «La Maison de Jacques», Rue Mouffetard, 3:30 AM” presents a nice mix with hip-hop and house with heavy rhythms and a powerful melodic groove. TAOS finally plunges his listener in a lost environment between jazz fusion and broken beat with «After at the Speakeasy, «The Key», 52nd Street, 5:30 AM”, a track that refers to the influence of Kaidi Tatham to close this first opus.

PREMIERE : TAOS - Before At The Flat, "The Aquarium", Conant Gardens, 10:00PM

Second time around for Linkwood's delicious debut album, "System", which re-appears on vinyl a decade after it first hit record stores. The set has aged really well, with the Edinburgh producer's forays into Kraftwerkian electro ("Robot Parade", "Pumpernickel"), vocal nu-boogie (the Reggie Watts-voiced "Tears") and kaleidoscopic electrofunk ("Falling") sounding particularly on-trend. Of course, there's plenty more to set the pulse racing elsewhere across the LP, from the bustling, Chicago deep house jack of "Electricity", to the rhythmic ambient bliss of loved-up closing cut "Nectarine". It is, then, an album that's not only stood the test of time, but also boasts some genuinely stunning, club-ready moments.

As the decade has rolled to a close, the ways in which fans discover music is more fractured and algorithmic than ever. Massive platforms use technology and playlists that many listeners have become reliant on to surface new and engaging tracks, and while there are still a handful of independent press outlets pushing releases from underserved artists, they are dwindling by the year. Yet in the face of a rapidly changing industry, there are still a number of even smaller collectives bucking the trend of computerized gatekeeping, thanks in no small part to the hard work and passion of like-minded individuals who care deeply and are driven to support and spread the music they love.

One such faction is the unrelenting and ever-evolving Bolting Bits, co-founded as a French language publication in 2014 by Florent Tarroux (who produces and DJs as Numea Daze) and his partner Sarah-Marie. Bringing Igor Bezuglov onboard in early 2016, together they helped Bolting Bits reach a more universal audience by transitioning their writing to the English language. Alongside a small team of rotating contributors, they've worked tirelessly to not only upload music from artists they admire, but also raise the profile of talented newcomers who are eager to share their efforts---many of whom have gone on to release on labels such as Shall Not Fade, Lobster Theremin, Feel My Bicep, and a myriad of high-profile outlets. With over 650 premieres under their belt, as well as over 100 original mixes and over 6 million plays on Soundcloud, Bolting Bits remains a beacon for the outer rims of traditional dance music, covering everything from jazz to acid to broken beat and beyond. They have thrown dozens upon dozens of parties in their local Montreal and have reached audiences across the globe (except Greenland…hurry up Greenland).

Now, Bolting Bits are extremely excited to announce their first official compilation, in partnership with renowned producers and artists who’ve been supporting and supported by the crew since the very beginning. With tracks from the likes of Jad & The, Aleksandir, Homage label owner Ryan Clover, and many others, this compilation stands as a testament to the amazing work and ethos of Bolting Bits. It will be available on both Bandcamp and the main Bolting Bits website, and will cost a minimum of 8 USD (though fans can pay-what-they-want to help further support the site)---the ultimate goal is to continue sharing amazing tunes from incredible artists to the people who care.
