When France-born DJ and producer, Willis Anne isn’t finessing his spellbinding live sets and performing them in his home country of Germany, he’s curating club nights and releases for his own brand, LAN. A true hardware junky, from his productions you can expect complex polyrhythms, leftfield sound design and textural complexity. Whilst these off-kilter elements can all be found in Movement EP, it also features some more easily recognisable rhythms borrowed from styles like juke and breaks. Finishing off Henzo’s banner 2022 that has seen releases on YCO and Peder Mannerfelt Produktion, the Manchester based producer dials back the tempo into 5 cuts of gloom-ridden dancefloor damagers for his Nervous Horizon debut. Running the gamut of Dancehall, Techno and Drum & Bass, the EP’s refined palette is laser-guided in its intention of favouring groove and atmosphere over melody and hooks.

The opening track, 'Survivorship Bias', rolls out a lurching and smudged drum break over an equally sketchy Donk and vocal sample in a Bolton-meets-Belgium chug affair. 'It’s Ours and Hours Alone' and 'Writhing' lean more towards a typical Dancehall rhythm, smattered with the reticulated percussion that Nervous Horizon have been known for, saturated and growling. 'His Troublesome Knees' sees a variation on the theme of the opener, with the addition of harrowing, gnarly strings that posit drama in the riff that runs almost throughout; An inescapable tension that juxtaposes the highly danceable groove. Rounding out Stretford Blues, 'A Pocket You Didn’t Expect' feels like 3 tempos at once: 82, 164 and 328BPM. The battering, unrelenting kicks laced over taut breaks and hats hark to Jungle Techno and Tech Step in their composition, but the drawn out and bleak orchestral breakdown, coupled with a barking, irate bassline, suggest that Henzo shows no allegiance to nostalgia and is moving intently into the future.

Product Toss delivers for our third outing on the OOSX digital series, joined by NY-based Tano for the remix duties.

The Newcastle native has enjoyed a string of releases with Stolen Groove and Ape-X in recent months, as well as a series of self-released tracks which have been getting airtime from the likes of DJ Plead and Phillip Jondo.

Product Toss pushes his post-dubstep off-kilter club sound to the limit with this release, scouring each corner of the UK techno continuum and settling on a sound which is both complex and functional. The unmistakeable vocal sample of the title track is one that will be as likely to get smiles on faces as it will get the legs moving. On remix duties, New York based Tano flips the sample on it's head again to create a tight percussive-laden groove.

‘Everything Merged’ is 3024’s second series of compilations featuring artists from the 3024 Mentoring Program. At the beginning of the pandemic, label owner Martyn started forming a lively online community of artists, providing them with ideas and inspiration. This community grew larger and larger, and musicians started to connect both online and offline, across continents and genres. It resulted in the “It Was Always There” series of compilations in 2021, as well as countless independent releases, radio appearances and gigs, putting a host of artists on the map.

Working on the program made Martyn and partner Jeroen Erosie reconsider the purpose of running a record label in 2022. ‘Are we still interested in putting out records via the usual channels?’ Or should a label become more of an umbrella for various activities by a larger community, both online and IRL, with digital and physical products, in other words merge everything into one.

“Everything Merged vol. 2” features both artists debuting their first tracks on a label as well as mainstays of core local scenes like London, NYC, SF and Berlin. From the percussive mastery of Sister Zo, Arcane Prospect and Manchester's DR MYSTERY to the sly techno mutations of Kudeki, Clay Wilson and Pino Peña, this collection highlights the wide variety of sounds and influences inhibiting the current electronic scene. Especially check out the post-pando exuberance of uuklyph, Henry Kerins and Padoa and the bass mutations of Dutch duo TMSV & Case, Kenji Ko, Ragdy and Rex the Bard!

EMA’s Woozy label returns with @sharu 's Match My Sway EP; a powerful club record that sits proudly in the canon of modern protest music; written in 2021. Dubstep-influenced electronics meet spoken word on the continued struggle of oppressed nations’ fight for liberation. Comes with a slamming Walton remix, with all artist profits going towards the Kyiv Angels and Repair Together charities in Ukraine.

Sha Ru are a New York-via-Berlin based duo renowned for their deft mix of spoken word and club electronics, gaining notoriety thanks to their exhilarating productions and renowned live, hybrid and DJ sets. Having spent most of their time based between two different countries, the covid pandemic unexpectedly united the band in Belarus and subsequently Ukraine for an extended period of time. They quickly found themselves immersed in each country’s  respective electronic music scene, building strong relationships within each community. It quickly became apparent that both countries were actively fighting for their future freedom, and the duo felt compelled by the unity they experienced in this to respond with music. This resulted in Match My Sway, a record chronicling resistance both lyrically and sonically that found a suitable home
on EMA’s impressively futurist-leaning Woozy imprint.

The EP opens with Temporary Iteration, a fierce steppers track with plummeting subs that chronicles a moment of transition into clarity by focusing on the ‘now’; staying true to your belief by moving directly towards your goal together. Not Fluctuating ups the sonic ante with hefty kicks, drill snares and potent throbbing bass, while the vocals describe the feeling of ultimate resistance in the name of seeking the truth.

Side B enters with Synced Energies, acting as the EP’s thrilling climax. Percolating synths pogo around a 2-step beat providing chest-gripping catharsis. Lyrics repeat a mantra of unity, refuting
divisions. Tectonic and Ilian Tape affiliate Walton sees us out with the intense stuttering rave mechanics of his Not Fluctuating remix, a modern techno monster that deserves to be enjoyed on a 10ft tall rig; a complimentary take on a powerful original.
