UC Beatz delivers his ‘Nightzoom’ EP via B2 Recordings this December, comprised of four originals from the Belgian artist.

Brussels-based producer, DJ and label owner of Entrepôt Records, UC Beatz has carved out quite the reputation over the past decade and a half, dropping material on reputed imprints such as New York’s Razor N Tape, Cinthie’s Collective Cuts, Derrick Carter and Luke Solomon’s The Classic Music Company amongst others.

Here he joins the B2 Recordings roster with his latest collection of works and title-cut ‘Nightzoom’ leads, laying down organic drums, hypnotic chants and circling synth strings to create a subtly blooming, loop-led groove. ‘Saraska’ follows and strips things back to choppy acid bass, swinging 707 drums, vocal shots and an amalgamation of airy resonant keys.

Opening the flip-side is ‘The Girl Who Loved Flowers’, employing classic deep house tropes with fluttery Rhodes chords, tension building strings, snaking bass and crunchy drums throughout. Lastly ‘Stars Keep Shining’ then rounds out the release, leaning towards a more jazzy house aesthetic courtesy of intricately nuanced key melodies, warm subs, shuffled drums and winding Moog like synth licks.

Amadeus sees itself yet again graced by the California-gone-Berlin coastal confidant, Steve Huerta. Preparing his fourth record for the imprint, Huerta sets a mood of what is to be his best record to date. Bringing along fellow expatriate and Berlin-based producer Youandewan (of Secret Sundaze and Aus Music fame) along with him.

Aside and forefront club-track, “Mandala,” carries itself through chugging shakers and pad-work, held tightly in place by the squelchy, off-kilter lead. The tune never quite sits still, bubbling about by each percolating percussive layer. Backed by what was jokingly coined the “California Garage Track,” “Eistee” is at best the chiller-fitting you would want. Jacking percussion and complimenting drum programming give this track It’s toughness.

The Bside houses the first collaboration from the two. With the intro’s minimally-structured progression, “Apache Line,” only reaches its incline after the minute mark. Spring delayed and filtered heavily, the track’s wonky lead bleeds through as if to enrapture you in its thermal clutch. Wrapping up the record we’ve asking Youandewan to add the floor-readied “Yo Endlos.” The track is definitively what you would want as a closer; simplicity in its step but tightness throughout its progression.

Shall Not Fade Three Years of Service gathers together nine tracks from existing and freshly signed members of the label’s growing family of artists, including Skream, Frits Wentink, DJ Boring Mella Dee, Adryiano TRP, Loods and LK. 

The collection was designed to showcase Shall Not Fade’s constantly evolving sound, with the nine featured tracks touching on a wide variety of dancefloor-centric variations of house and techno while adhering to the label’s long-held ethos (“music to make people happy and dance”). 

It will be the label’s first ever album release and will be released in limited numbers on double 12” vinyl, with full sleeve artwork.

Having enjoyed a slew of sell-out releases and events that celebrate the most striking up-and-comers in the dance music scene, the third record from Cardiff-based label Haŵs moves away from its former VA-showcase format and invites previous alumni Ari Bald into the limelight.
 With a quartet of light-footed tracks that tread gracefully through the bottomless sub-genres of electronic music, Ari Bald’s homespun, Scandinavian influences pervade through each track like a utopian summer outlasting its contract. Rearing up the project with the heavy aid of synthesisers, the “Pesce” EP is a plush, musical panorama submerged in sub-aquatic sunshine. Murmurs evolve into soulful odes throughout the four-tracker; Ari’s playful attitude to his productions is ceaselessly evident within each verse, and the record flutters without stagnation between hybrid jams, classic sounds and intellectual deep house.
 The titular opener “Pesce” is an effervescent arrangement of arpeggios and post-disco samples that skitter under the wing of an ephemeral breeze at dusk. Its harmonies ebb and abate – and just like that, it’s all over. “Club Contradictory” speaks for itself; it’s a glorious paradox of emotions that is both energetic and leisurely, like an aeronaut fixed at a high velocity but happy to throw its course onto autopilot just to enjoy the view from way up high.
 Navigating back down out of the clouds to a level that skims intermittently upon a glassy lagoon of breaks, two-step and docile electro, “Sunday Wool” is a B-side preamble that swoons upon the sight of itself in the water. But with each instant there must be a successor, and as the arches of synths upsurge and disassemble themselves, “Umberto Arpeggio” reforms. The closing track is a melting pot of vintage drums, Italo jingles and classical house touches – still soaring above ground-level, but fervently pursuing a higher trajectory.
 Think of that warm-hearted, sentimental state of mind that bubbles up in the most starry-eyed and transient of daydreams. The “Pesce” EP seems to expand the present; it catches those fleeting moments, holds them up to enjoy just a little while longer, before letting them go to retreat under the horizon.
