The Art of not Forcing

Hello again… I’m ready to share my latest work titled: “Yesterday’s Shadow”

“Yesterday’s Shadow,” is a tribute inspired by my late grandfather's life and legacy; who recently transitioned into eternity during July… 

This project was crafted in the wake of his passing. The last time we spoke was in October 2022… so I was not there at the end of his life. I didn’t get a chance to have a last conversation with him… 
Yet his spirit whispered to me, “Don’t let yesterday take up too much.”

Each verse captures the powerful message from my grandfather, that we must not let yesterday take up too much of today… 

The hook resonates reminding us to embrace life fully, even in moments of loss… we can release the weight of yesterday and embrace the fresh winds of today…

Join me on this emotional journey as I celebrate my grandfather’s life & legacy in this first chapter of a three-part musical homage…

For the musical arrangement on this one I created a pop beat… I hope you like it! More to come… Thanks for listening!!!

The mirror’s kind, but the eyes know lies,
A grin’s just armor in disguise.
made peace with stubborn ghosts,
They haunt politely now they’re decent hosts.
Love and loss, they share one bed,
Taught me what can’t be fixed gets said.

Maybe joy’s that quiet sound,
Of laying old burdens down.

So here’s to bruises that taught me to bend,
To good mistakes that I’d make again.
To the kindness that hides in regret,
To forgiving myself though I’m not there yet.
Yeah, I’m drifting not wrong, not right 
Just some direction into the light.

No grand design, no master key,
Just love and luck and entropy.
If the stars can burn, then fade, then shine 
Maybe so can I… maybe so can I.

So here’s to the endings that don’t quite end,
To calling a scar an honest friend.
To the stories that time won’t vet,
To forgiving the world and myself, I bet.
