My first set at Burning Man (or the FreeBurn as it was this year). I was part of the amazing Sound Garden camp and played uplifting and fun daytime tunes on Saturday afternoon to get people back in good spirits after a really epic night at the Garden. I had a lot of fun with this one, and I hope you love listening to it as much as I loved playing it.

Holy moly. I have no words to express how incredible of an experience this was to play in front of so many of my soul family I hadn't seen in a year. The Yoga Barn's dance floor is legendary for ecstatic dance and the energy and vibe of this Yoga Barn crowd was indescribable. This was a set I was looking forward to since I first started DJing, and I couldn't disappoint myself. I didn't. I believe you, listener, will enjoy it as well.

This was tribal, shamanic, sexy, grimey, happy, and loving. I didn't realize how much feeling this set evoked. I have never had anyone propose to their girlfriend after an ecstatic dance, and that happened here. I'm beyond grateful for this day!

Ecstatic Dance | The Yoga Barn | Ubud, Bali | 3.13.2022

Recorded live at Kamp Kiss from Monday night at Burning Man 2022. I'd describe this as my signature sound of a genre blending mix of very dancey latin electronic, booty shaking tribal bass, and percussion-heavy afro house. This was a set that blew me away in its specialness and almost blew me away off the decks. 

I was meant to play the Ecstatic Dance to open Kamp Kiss's opening night after their Monday night opening ceremony to their full camp, but the threat of a white out rainstorm had many people run for cover. Wind came, more dust arrived, but the rain never showed up. A lot of my friends couldn't make it because their camps had to batten down the hatches at that time, but the people who were there gave me so much loving energy to play. Sooo much gratitude to all of you who got to see me play this set on this incredible sound system at this beautiful camp.

This was one of my main highlights of the Burn. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Burning Man 2022 - Camp Kiss Monday Night - 8.29.2022

Getting this yummy little festival off to the right start on Thursday night at the Pavilion Stage. Here's my set that got just enough booties shaking and limbs rolling to keep going throughout the weekend. Gratitude to the organizers for inviting me to rock this dance floor!

Unison Festival - 9.8.2022

Another beautiful sold out Sunday morning dance at the local "church" in Ubud. The energy was epic in the space. Thank you, dancers! In my one month in Bali, I feel so grateful to be able to share my energy on my favorite dance floor in the world yet again.

Shalmanic Journeys 24 - Yoga Barn, Ubud, Bali - 11.20.2022

This was my first Friday night Ecstatic Dance set at The Yoga Barn. In contrast to the light, joyful, tribal sound I usually prepare for Sunday mornings, I understood this assignment to be different: go hard, deep, and sexy.

It was time to bring it, and judging by the amount of sweaty people I hugged at the end, I believe I completed the assignment with flying colors. I made this one shamanic, sexy, and powerful.

Thank you again, dancers of Yoga Barn, for always showing up 111%. You consistently make me feel so grateful to do this. I love you.

This was the opening set for SoulPlay Festival 2023 in Cobb, CA. SoulPlay is a 4 day immersive experience filled with transformational workshops, celebration, dancing, connection, and play.

My intention was to the vibe high for the pool on the first day. This track was very sexy and soulful with a lot of retro and afro inspired tracks.

However, this past Friday, I had the opportunity to recreate those unforgettable vibes at a Decompression Party for my Camp KISS and Burner family at The Portal Marin. My two friends Jaleh Love and Lady Kiah were in support with live vocals and trumpet, which made it extra special. This time, I made sure to capture the magic. ✨

Burning Man 2024 | Sunday Night Sweat

I was invited to play a set for my dear friend Raj's birthday ("Raj-a-Palooza") on a beautiful and balmy night in San Francisco. I know how much he loves house music that has a familiar and recognizable feel to it, so I searched long and hard for vibey music that you might find yourself singing along to. 

We came up with the term "Joyquanimity" that night -- a combination of joy and equanimity, the feeling one might get while listening and dancing to this set.

This one is for particularly fun for those of us born in the '80s and earlier, but everyone will enjoy the shit out of it. :)

Recorded during my final Sunday of yet another transformative Bali trip — where this time I launched a new music project called JAGWOLF with my soul brother Miguel (Nova Wolf), turned 41, and deepened countless connections — this set was a full circle moment and felt like both a culmination and a celebration. And how fitting was it that it happened at the venue that has held countless special moments for me over the years.

Miguel and I first met on this very same dancefloor in November 2022 when I was a DJ and he was a dancer. On this special day, we returned as musicians together. I played original tracks we produced as JAGWOLF and he as LIL WOLF, alongside friends like Halo Bee, who joined us live to sing and close the journey.

The dance was a wild ride: from downtempo medicine and tribal rhythms to dirty basslines and organic global house. I wove in inspirational spoken word, unreleased tracks, and sonic blessings from our Ubud family: Raio, Kamau Abayomi, and more.

This set is a tribute to the joy, the friendship, and the magic this island inspires. Suksma Mama Bali! 🙏🏽

Shalman (actual name is Salman) is a globally rooted DJ, producer, and vibe architect whose sets blend global afro, afro tech house and indie dance into immersive, feel-good journeys.
