This mix is dedicated to the ancient old growth giants that give life to us all in a plethora of ways. It was recorded live at a Greater Groove ecstatic dance fundraiser for Last Stand West Kootenay, an organizing based out of the Kootenays that advocates for the protection of all old growth forests, the sustainable transition of the forestry industry toward value adding, community-led, small scale, selective and second-growth logging. As we continue moving forward on this path of self-destruction via unlimited consumption and extraction, the signs will become more and more clear. Floods, fires, landslides, heat waves, erratic weather, and hurricanes will continue to increase in frequency and intensity. The mass extinction will continue to accelerate, and industry will continue to place blame on various species as it attempts to divert attention away from the real culprit, humans. When will we begin to recognize the oneness that connects us all in this beautiful web of life, and act on it? I thank those who stand on the front lines, who sacrifice everything for the trees, animals, mosses, us. This Dj set was offered during Envision Festival 2023 on Wednesday March 1st. 

"The Dragon" opened up the dance portal and these were his words: 

The Alchemy of the fire that I carry within has a heart and that heart is compassion. 

In my heart I burn fear into love, pain into purification, shame into light and guilt into liberation. 

I the dragon dwell deep down in the corners of your unconscious mind as the guardian and the keeper of your dreams and desires. I treasure them. I hold them dear in my heart. My purpose is to keep themall safe until one night the human present itself before me and claim them. 

That night I will show you your shadows so that you can dance with them face to face and listen closely to the message they bring to your soul to break free and to break through the great illusion of separation. That night is tonight! 

And tonight we will end up with a deeper sense of self, rooted in the sensuality of our own human body experience, making us unshakeable, solid and magnetic. 

The light shines brighter in the dark my fellow humans. We are here to shine our light throughout the night on this dancefloor. that light that's rooted in your shadows...unapologetic, authentic and raw! 

Bring your great visions bring your great dreams and dance them all out, I am here to ignite them all.

Such an honor to play this set for such a beautiful community of beings in ceremony and celebration to Saturn, Lord Shani, and all the teachings and wisdom we gain through these difficult yet divine energies - energies of fear, angst, loss, darkness, despair, depression, grief, and sweet sweet surrender. All the feels, hard as they may be, need to be felt for us to be free healthy and happy beings...and no better way I know than to work through the processing than by dancing.

Prepare to confront your own anger, fear, and insecurities as we take a deep dive into our collective shadow. Let the music be your anchor and your motivation. Make sure you're in a safe space where you can fully surrender to this practice and don't hold anything back.
