No post-processing on the original excerpts, nor after time and pitch shift. Recorded around 01:00, just after rain, in Autumn. I'm contributing some sounds to an upcoming crowdsourced Water & Ice sound effects library. For my contribution, I pulled recordings from a coincidentally-timed recording trip. I recently spent a few very (very) cold nights camped next to a few frozen lakes listening to (and recording) their heaving and sighing and cracking and sloshing. This is a preview of what I heard and will be in the library.

This is a short compilation of some really cool sounds emanating from the lakes. I must emphasize that there is *no* processing here (other than simple editing). Th method here was just set the mics up and let the ice sing (and then edit the takes together). This compilation represents 25 takes that will be included in the crowdsourced library.

Water And Ice Preview

Night time crickets accompany slowing flowing water as it nourishes the “River Of Grass” in Everglades National Park, Florida. The miles wide shallow sheet of water flows about 200 miles from it’s source in central Florida to it’s exit into the sea. January 2021. Two cross faded clips were recorded in AB Stereo with matched pair of Ursi Pro omnidirectional microphones placed about six feet apart and six feet in the air, recorded into SoundDevices MixPre 3 with -40 Hz low cut and 50 Db of gain.
