Yancey is a producer from Auckland, New Zealand; A multi-instrumentalist with an eclectic sound he describes as a social experiment of genres, Yancey’s productions are a mixture of constantly evolving rhythms & grooves with a unique style stemming from a love for underground music culture, with deep roots in hip hop, dub, jungle/drum & bass and the many contemporary sub genres that stem from each. 

Now residing in the UK, Yancey has built quite a name for himself in his homeland’s underground music scene & beyond, with his music being released & featured by notable labels including 1Forty, Quality Goods Records & Sony Music NZ, played on Rinse FM, BBC Radio 1, Subtle, Noisia Radio & regularlly on GeorgeFM in his home country where he held down a recent residency, & supported by notable producers the likes of Sir Spyro, Plastician, Cesco, & Sepia. This notoriety has led him to perform renowned showcases for the likes of Redbull, 1985 Music, & SWU:FM.

Thank you to The Untz for inviting BABS (Bay Area Bass Scene) for a main stage takeover at the festival! BABS is a Facebook group I started in 2017 to find friends to go to bass shows with, that now has 1.8k members and is a fully thriving community and mutual aid network in the Bay Area. We've been attending The Untz religiously since 2017 (this was my 8th year attending, 4th year with CouchFam (I run that too), 2nd year playing music and 1st year on the main stage) so this was a crazy full circle moment for us.
