This is the recording of my closing set at FOLD, London, on April 14th, 2023. I'd put together the lineup for Transmissions and DJed after Shackleton, CCL and mi-el, and had a really special time playing in a zone I’ve been hugely enjoying this year – fast, headsy, frenetic, tunnelling, kind of psychedelic (but not like explicitly psy), twisting and turning in different directions, all over the place genre-wise but tightly bound in a specific mood and propulsive energy.

Decided to re-record a few transitions on this one and tidy it up a little – it’s more editing than I’d usually do but I wanted to release the best mix I could which would exemplify where my head's been at this year. :)

Grain Sessions ◦ 001: Alisa Avilova «You don't understand how much violence it took to become this gentle»

Grain Sessions ◦ is a mix series from artists connected to the Grain ◦ collective, focusing on the relationship between sound and space. We treat sound as a way of documenting personal states and exploring texture as a carrier of meaning.

This first edition was recorded in an abandoned children's camp called Skazka (“Fairy Tale”). Through fractured electronics and noise-driven layers, Alisa Avilova channels the emotional residue of such places — their fragility, tension, and quiet decay.

Alisa Avilova is a multimedia artist, DJ, and music producer based in Moscow, and the first guest in the series. Her sets are shaped by architecture, spatial dynamics, and atmosphere. You may have heard her at Found or RNDM, or on air at Moscow’s KURS Radio (@kurs_radio) and London based Komrad (@komunal_radio).

This spring, she released her 6-track EP /revvire on Oramica*. The cassette edition is available via Rotary Records and Kultura Record Store.

Second episode of the Grain Sessions ◦ series, recorded at the ArtPlay office with a view of the railway tracks.

Erop reimagines frequency modulation as a sensory and spatial phenomenon — where sound is shaped by both algorithmic and environmental interference.

The mix features his own tracks, upcoming album excerpts, and material sourced through a process of virtual field recording — collecting fragments, samples, and sonic residues from the web.

In the process of cleaning up the backyard at my new place this spring, I dug up a mysterious stone artifact in four pieces. When reassembled, the pieces formed a curious gnome holding a mushroom and riding atop a sort of frog-turtle, his patient familiar. I also dug up a little green marble, surely its soul gem; when placed in the center of the shattered idol, glowing light emanated from its core, the world was forever changed, and this song was born.

This track features some powerful freestyling from our very own Phibiou$ - the first time (to my knowledge) that anyone has ever rapped over my music, which is incredible and awesome and needs to happen many more times in the future. Thank you for listening. Take care of your mysterious artifacts lest they become cursed.
