It's been 4 years since I put out new music. Over lockdown I retreated fully, burnt out in many ways. It also coincided with a studio move and overhaul of my studio process. As I started to make music again, I instead focussed on the simple joy of creating with with zero thought about sharing it publicly. I have never enjoyed making music like I do now and I think it shines through in these tracks. This EP represents a new chapter for me and I am excited to share the rest of it as well as a bunch more music over the next 12 months.

COEO back on Toy Tonics! The German duo has been part of Toy Tonics since day one. Now they celebrate their return to Toy Tonics with an outstanding EP full of timeless, contemporary house music that also marks their 10th contribution to the label after their first release on the imprint 10 years ago. On this new EP one more time, the boys dive deep into the Italo & Piano House world, getting more electronic than ever. This EP is 100% in the vibe of now. With great piano chord drops that make everybody scream on the dance floor, with horn and synth melodies that you can sing along after you heard them one time only, and with classic house beats that are THE sound of today.

The main title, “Nostalgia,” is inspired by and a tribute to all the intimate and ecstatic moments they were able to share over the years with music lovers on festivals and in clubs around the world. The piano house theme on the A1 brings you into that festive mood of your last summer festival you have been to with your closest friends.

Hrag Mikkel - I Need You (Kon Faber Remix) [Marginalia]

Marquis Hawkes continues to supply quality, disco-infused house with ‘The Basement is Burning’ EP on AUS Music, featuring the euphoric and energetic title track.

It’s no surprise Marquis Hawkes is right at home on AUS Music, having released a collection of the label’s top EPs in the past two years, including ‘Chances’, ‘Doornroosje’ and ‘Love Precipitation’. Now he’s set to drop his second release on the imprint in 2017, showcasing more of his soulful and emotive material. 

‘The Basement is Burning’ leads off with a warm piano melody paired with a steady house beat which leads into a crescendo of blissful strings and synth. It’s interesting to note that the track was inspired by a distressing event in which his home caught fire and his family had to be rescued from a fifth floor balcony. Once he and his family were safe, Hawkes had to dash across Berlin to make it to a live show at 10am. A few days later, ‘The Basement is Burning’ was born.

‘The Basement is Burning’ EP is set for release May 26.
