To celebrate the release of his brand new Dirtybird single "Beach", jjtsu dials up the tempo a bit with a guest set full of jackin' warehouse sounds including brand new talents coming out of the Eastern European region and beyond.

Track 003 of my Twisted Synth Series "Tactus" is a composition with two synth lines - a snarling rhythmic bass line juxtaposed with a more melodic and playful midrange line. The arrangement is less tricky than Omaynd's (in which I switch the down beat intermittently and place seemingly random breaks) and the overall intention of Tactus is to create a more straightforward, predictable track that raises the energy level on the dance floor without entirely alienating it but still freaking it out - a lot. 

The Twisted Synth Series is heavily influenced by the architecture of the legendary club space in Tokyo - Womb, a cavernous concrete room almost 4 floors high with a capacity of 850 people.

When I started to perform in this larger venue I found the more intricate stylings and production techniques I had been exploring in my releases on Trapez LTD to be a little irrelevant at the time. My productions from this period (2007-2009) are heavily didactic and in your face club tracks but offset by deliberately oddball break downs and unexpected twists and turns in the arrangement.

At the time of their creation I was very interested in the journey of playful synth lines emerging from within the basic groove of a track and then erupting into a thrilling, playful madness that kept the dance floor guessing and thrilled.


Tactus

Shane is an electronic music composer and sound designer creating audio content for short films and games. His commercial audio work appears on campaigns for multinational firms such as Red Bull, SuperCell, Riot, and many more.

Shane is an accomplished recording artist with music released on labels such as Trapez, Ministry of Sound, Kompakt, Sinewave NYC, and Greta Cottage Workshop, and he has more than a decade of live performance experience on the underground techno scenes in Tokyo and Belgrade.

Shane is currently based in Tokyo, Japan and works as Audio Director for the award-winning Demagog Studio.
