And so we started out into the night, down towards the waterfront where there was the sound of music and shouts and drunken oaths, he was talking quietly all the while about this and that, about a girl he had fallen in love with. From that he switched back to the Baron de Charlus and then to Kurtz who had gone up the river and got lost. His favorite theme. I liked the way he moved against this background of literature continuously; it was like a millionaire who never stepped out of his Rolls Royce. There was no intermediate realm for him between reality and ideas. When we entered the whorehouse on the Quai Voltaire, after he had flung himself on the divan and rung for girls and for drinks, he was still paddling up the river with Kurtz, and only when the girls had flopped on the bed beside him and stuffed his mouth with kisses did he cease his divagations. Ka:lu escaped from the empty land with his Arp and took the nowhere’s road. This is his second offering for Shango Records. These tracks can teach you how to give beauty to the people. Kaöb, DIBIDABO, AmuAmu, Chomba and Zuma Dionys are giving love and beauty and warm feelings in their own unique way.

The Huli are believed to have laid down roots in Papua New Guinea as far back as 45,000 years ago. Most of the Huli people are from the town of Tari, and many still live according to the traditional ways. “The Huli men are famous for their unique custom of creating and wearing impressive wigs decorated with feathers. They also wear bright facial paint in red, yellow and white — colors originally chosen to strike fear into their enemy in times of conflict. Nowadays, they usually wear them to sing and dance.”. The so-called Wigmen make their wigs out of their own hair and weave them with feathers from the island’s 700 bird species. Each feather carries its own symbolic meaning (such as strength and courage). “The forest in which we live is essential to us. It provides for all our needs, it is sacred, and I would do anything in my power to protect it,” writes Mundiya Kepanga, a 53-year-old Huli Wigman, “I hope that by helping people to better understand my culture, they will also respect our environment.”                                                                                                                    This is the new Shango Records compilation entitled “A Wigmen Town Called Tari”. The Temple of Pillagi was a Late Archaic temple on the underwater mythical city of Atlantis. The myth says that the temple was built around 530 BC and was one of the earliest Ionic temples. It was built completely from Naxian marble. Based on some undefined information, the sanctuary was probably dedicated to Demeter or perhaps Kore. For this reason and because of its unusual shape, the temple is often referred to as a telesterion. There are also indications of a cult to Apollo on the site. If still in use by the 4th century AD, the temple would have been closed during the persecution of pagans under the Christian emperors. In the 6th century AD, the temple was largely demolished and a three-naved Christian basilica was built from the same stone on the same site.

“It’s a secret door to the Inner City!” Minli gasped, and she was able to reach it just before it closed completely. With both hands she pressed hard against it and the door pushed open. And like a lid of a jewelry box, the door opened into a landscape of radiant colors. The bamboo, pine, and plum leaves seemed to shine in the sun as if carved from emeralds and the accents of the pink and red flowers were like nestled rubies. Steps away from her feet, Minli could see a patterned pathway made of water-worn pebbles. The central jade green lake mirrored the arching tiled roofs of the pavilions and the rough beauty of large weathered rock sculptures. A winding covered walkway lifted up from the cloudy water like a lotus flower. It could only be the Palace Garden. Shan Nash is showing you the flight of a bird. This is his first offering for Shango Records. This track can lead you to the Palace Garden. Jack Essek and Majnoon are taking care of the blue, open wide skies.

The night was beautiful. The Moon was as soft as lace. The stars in the wide open skies were so bright like millions of fireflies. I was feeling warm, reading poetry and drinking a cup of hot tea. Love is everywhere and so is the absence of it. He turned his head on the right and he saw her sleeping. Her hair the color of an autumn leaf, her face the same brown tint as the fingerless glove on her knee. Two hours before she told me without comment that she was engaged to another man. I doubted that though there were several she could have married at a nod of her head but I pretended to be surprised. DJ Phellix & Amir Sheykh enjoying their time under the silver Moon in the Garden of Eden. This is their first offering for Shango Records. And I will take the painting.” Even though I did not know exactly what was going on, I knew I did not want to belong to Magistrate Tiger. Then it quickly turned oily and flattering. “As only fitting for your greatness.” “Yes,” Magistrate Tiger said, “have it hung behind my chair.”.

The next morning, Minli woke up alone under a heavy, rich blanket. Even though she was on the floor of the garden pagoda, she had slept comfortably, and as she sat up she realized that was probably due to the silk pillows she had been lying on. The soft sunlight cast leaf shadows across her face and the wind made gentle ripples in the moss colored lake in front of her. The Imperial Garden was just as beautiful in the day as it was by night. On one side of her lay a small table with a small pot of tea, a bowl of rice porridge and tea stained eggs. “Breakfast,” Minli thought to herself, but before she reached for it she saw that a yellow brocade traveling bag lay on the other side of her.Inside the bag, Minli found her humble blanket, rabbit rice bowl (with needle and bamboo piece), chopsticks, a generous supply of cakes, and her hollow gourd full of fresh water. On the very top lay the gold threaded pouch that held the ripped page of fortune. Minli took the pouch and held it with two hands. AGMA are ready to teach you how to tango in the desert. Tinariwen are a Tuareg group, formed in 1982. Tinariwen feel neither Algerian nor Malian: they are Tuareg, and regard the border that separates the two countries as a product of colonialism. Tinariwen plays a mix of blues, rock and traditional Tuareg music. "Tinariwen" means "empty place" in the language of the Berbers of the Saharan desert. The tiger glared like a spoiled child. Minli could now see it was not an ordinary tiger. It was bigger than a horse or buffalo and it was a dark, dusty green like the color of the sand, dirtied from ocean foam. But the tiger gave another malicious snarl and turned away. It was then Minli saw the four long gashes bleeding on Dragon’s arm. The tiger’s claws had been sharp and the slashes were deep. Minli shook herself and brushed her tears away. “You’re hurt,” Minli said, looking at the cuts, which were already starting to swell. “It is all right,” Dragon said. “Don’t worry. Dragons heal quickly.” They walked back into the cave and Minli poured water on the wounds to clean them. She wrapped her blanket around Dragon’s arm, but it continued to slowly bleed. Chris Goa, Madma-Tuareg (Madma rework)

Fatoumata Diawara is a Malian singer-songwriter currently[when?] living in France.
Diawara began her career as an actress in theatre and in film, including Genesis (1999), Sia, The Dream of the Python (2001) and Timbuktu (2014). She later launched a career in music, collaborating with numerous artists and releasing three studio albums beginning with 2011 debut Fatou. Diawara's music combines traditional Wassoulou with international styles. Diawara sings primarily in Bambara, the national language of Mali, and builds on the tradition of "songs of advice" from the culture of her ancestral Wassoulou region. In her songs, Diawara has addressed issues such as the pain of emigration; a need for mutual respect; the struggles of African women; life under the rule of religious fundamentalists, and the practice of female circumcision. P A N pays his respects to Fatoumata and transforms "Sonkolon" (originaly from her first album "Fatou" back in 2011) into a Downtempo/Mali-Blues heaven!

She could see the tip of its green tail ahead over one of the large misshapen rocks. Quietly, she grabbed a sharp-looking stone from the ground and crept forward. There it was, in a clearing of flat stone — the evil animal was pacing back and forth as if it were waiting. Minli tightened her grip on the stone. Then she gasped. A plump little girl, dressed in brilliant red, was running to-ward the tiger! Before Minli could scream a warning, someone from behind her pulled her down and covered her mouth. “Shhh!” the voice said, and Minli looked into the eyes of a small boy, who seemed to be the same age as the girl. She could see the tip of its green tail ahead over one of the large misshapen rocks. Quietly, she grabbed a sharp-looking stone from the ground and crept forward. There it was, in a clearing of flat stone — the evil animal was pacing back and forth as if it were waiting. Minli tightened her grip on the stone. Then she gasped. A plump little girl, dressed in brilliant red, was running toward the tiger! Before Minli could scream a warning, someone from behind her pulled her down and covered her mouth. “Shhh!” the voice said, and Minli looked into the eyes of a small boy, who seemed to be the same age as the girl. Salas (CR) brings the mysteries of a reborn tribe. This is his second offering for Shango Records. These two tracks are ideal for a long journey to Nairobi. Underneath a gray blanket he was using like a cape, she could see flashes of quilted red clothing that matched the girl’s. His face was round and pink, as if it were more used to laughing than the serious frown it wore now. She nodded at his panicked gestures to keep quiet. “Oh, Great Green Tiger!” the little girl threw herself on the ground in a trembling kowtow before the beast. “Powerful Spirit of the magistrate my worthless ancestors angered! My brother and I were sent to you as the sacrifice you demanded.” The tiger roared furiously and the girl cowered. “I’m sorry,” the girl said, her voice quivering. “My brother and I were both sent to you, but on the way here, another monstrous beast attacked us! He took my brother and so there is only me.” The tiger made an outraged sound. “Yes, another beast,” the girl said. “This is what happened.”. Nüur fell asleep again in Bogota and awoke days later in Nairobi. This is his fifth offering for Shango Records. These two tracks will make you thirst for exotic nectars.

Minli quaked and the boy held her arm even tighter. “I can show you his den where he dragged my brother,” the girl quivered. The tiger nodded at the girl with narrowed eyes seething with fury. Shaking, the girl got up and began to lead the tiger away from the clearing. Minli, with the boy beckoning, silently followed. Atramix is going deep to the jungle where animals can speak and trees are made of poetry. This is his first offering for Shango Records. This track will give you the power of rhythm. Inessa is born and raised in the jungle.

THERE once lived, in Fanti-land, a man named Father Anansi. He possessed all the wisdom in the world. People came to him daily for advice and help.  One day the men of the country were unfortunate enough to offend Father Anansi, who immediately resolved to punish them. After much thought he decided that the severest penalty he could inflict would be to hide all his wisdom from them. He set to work at once to gather again all that he had already given. When he had succeeded, as he thought, in collecting it, he placed all in one great pot. This he carefully sealed, and determined to put it in a spot where no human being could reach it. Many-many years later MAUGLI identified the hidden pot and came into light with the wisdom of creating unforgettable and emotional dreams in a shape of-what is called today-music. He can be found in the shadows of Berlin. This is his first offering for Shango Records and comes with a remix by M.RUX. These two tracks whisper loudly but scream quietly.

Born in the dark streets of Cairo, grown to the unforgettable forests of Santa Esmeralda, spending its teen years in Bombay and Tangier markets, mature into the deep spacey Jungle of Ghana we proudly present you a new label from the land of the pyramids: SHANGO RECORDS invites you to an unheard world music psychedelic trip: like through a colorful kaleidoscope we will melt down Indian and Pakistani Vibes, Arab-Tek and Oriental groovy vibes, Afro-Beat rhythms n' pieces, Cumbia Tropicana flavors and cosmic Ghetto-Latin vibes into forbidden sounds of frenzied electronic dancefloor rituals. Outside traditional paths these driving grooves and polyphonic structures take the adventure seeking dancer to Dionysian highs and places never been before.

In a village on the southern side of the Alborz Mountain, by the Caspian Sea, lived an old woman with her beautiful daughter. Her name was Moon. She had blue eyes that shined like two unblemished turquoise gems; her long eyelashes curved upward. Her eyebrows hung like quarter moons when she opened her eyes. She had silky white skin like the color of snow and breathtakingly long black hair that hung over her slender shoulders. Everybody loved Moon and Moon loved life. She woke up at dawn, made tea for her mother, and prayed on the terrace, facing the Alborz Mountain, which were pointing in the direction of Mecca. Moon had a beautiful melodic voice and she loved to sing. After her morning prayer, she sat on the terrace, facing the rising sun, as it slowly peeked out from behind the mountain, spreading its rays over the valley below, and then, second by second, slowly spread a shaft of light over the sea. She loved to gaze at the unfolding of a new day from her terrace. She praised God and sang a harmonious tune, first in a soft voice, repeating the words, “Praise to God who created the heaven and earth.” Then as the beam of light widened over the valley, her voice continued its enchanting tune, in harmony with cardinals singing in magnolia trees in the yard. She repeated over and over, “Praise to God who created the heaven and earth.” Majnoon are bringing the silver moon into the shores of Istanbul. This is their first offering for Shango Records. There two tracks will guide you to a trip in the East side. Antonio Alterino, Touzani and Duygu Civas are drinking Raki and eating Baklava.
