My artist name is Maree Lawn.

I am originally from New Zealand and after a long travel I somehow landed in this magic little Portuguese city, called Coimbra. 
I wanted to stay for one night and ended up living in a community called República Baco* with a bunch of artists for NINE MONTHS! 

It was an incredibly creative time for me, I composed like 500 songs (haha!) and made SO much music! 
Five of those songs I recorded with Guiné in Baco (My Genie), then flew to Las Vegas (A friend heard my music and then shouted me the trip) to get the music mixed by Georgia Anne Muldrow. It was then sent to New Zealand to be mastered by Benny Tones, and a few months later, here we are!

The sound of the five songs are produced and performed by me on my Elektron octatrack**
The songs are deep, kind of like a sweet trip-hop, pop, neo-soul fusion utilizing a lot of improvisation and heartfelt vocals.
I never play a song the same way twice!

When you hear my album, you can expect a joyful, truthful celebration of life and love. All of my music is dedicated to the great mystery. Beautiful, elegant, reminiscent of nature with deep vocals in a heartfelt, warming sonic cuddle.

There will be a lot of love in the room whenever my music is played, as is my life's mission.

This feel-good piece we co-created to say a huge thank you to the beautiful people that we have met along our paths.
It is a loving acknowledgement of how life seems to bring amazing people in to our individual experiences, but almost always those amazing people have their own journeys to walk - and end up in different places around the world, continuing their life work.

A cheeky little collaboration with a beautiful friend of mine, Angelika.

She asked to come and jam, little did we know we would end up writing a full song!

It is a song about how focusing on ambition SUCKS||| 

I decided to 'pursue' music for a few reasons, firstly because it allows me to document my life journey - so that I can look back and remember dearly what has passed by listening to the music created at the time.
It also demands of me that I continue to grow and learn every day, humbling, struggling, celebrating, enjoying, sweat, tears and all!
