This is my 4 hour opening set from the December edition of Group Therapy in Copenhagen (@grouptherapy_cph). I was really sick in the week running up to this party and very nearly pulled out but am so glad I made it. 

The party was a world AIDS day fundraiser raising money for AIDS-Fondet and “Ungegruppen”. It was also the first party in their new venue Den Anden Side. The vibes were incredibly special and I was honoured to play the first songs in their new home. This was my love letter to everyone we lost to AIDS and a chance to play some of my most cherished records.

Developed after a month on tour in Australia, gestating ideas from our temporary Ballarat HQ at Brenton's house. The experiences and ideas explored on that trip - from rain-stick ambient experimentations with Daze to an off-the-cuff electro/techno live set with Jimmy, along with the constantly evolving solo live excursions and pad-centric productions - have resulted in a beautifully captivating hour long journey. Love, pillows, ciders and melancholia borne deep in the depths of the smoke-filled warehouse. "Sometimes I set out with a clear technical objective in mind, sometimes less so. A technical objective just means I know the range of what I want to play and have a vague idea how I'm going to execute it.

This set wasn't like that at all. It was only about reaching a vibe and switching through the emotions I would want to experience towards the end of a festival. I was not concerned about each mix being smooth as a petal, my concern was only where we were going. 

Despite the mix suffering the cold coat of being a basic output job - no crowd, no audible insults - the warm, sloppy heart is there somehow. You can hear the cuts and shifts being driven by the faces in front. This is a simple back and forth between me and them, no more, no less.
