I Know What It Is

Shaolin Temple Defenders is a Funk sensation!

After 10 years touring around the world(France, UK, Canada, Italy, Spain, Switzerland…) and recording 4 albums, the band from Bordeaux has grown to become world-renowned with a real connoisseurs' audience.

Even if their music is deeply inspired by 60's & 70's Rhythm n' Blues, they have developed their own musical identity, ranging from Raw Funk to Sweet Soul. 

This is best shown by their new album, 'From The Inside', which discloses a more modern and more personal aspect of their musical world. Constantly evolving, the Shaolin Temple Defenders have now pushed the limits of their own music thanks, notably, to their association with the gifted Patchworks(Mr President, Mr Day…).Indeed, the funky monks have taken time to meditate in the temple of Soul and to perfect the mastery of their art.

Their new musical repertoire will bring you to a deeply human universe in which the simple everyday pleasures meet with desperate love affairs and personal quests intertwine with universal messages.

Twelve original songs which display their love for the Memphis Soul style(Let Your Love Shine On me, Spirit Of The South…), their taste for Northern Soul-oriented tunes (Our Love Will Live Forever, Give & Take…) and their appetite for the recent releases of the famous records company from New-York, Daptone Records(Blue Shades, Do You Remember…).

As for their cover of the famous Carl Douglas' hit, 'Kung Fu Fighting', you will be sent back straight to the glorious times of the legendary Motown records company.
