Intermezzo was composed in 2010, and it was written in the style of my favourite composer, Johann Sebastian Bach with a New Age/pop-ish twist, especially in the middle section. It reminds one of "Allegro" from his Brandenburg Concerto No.3 in G Major, BWV 1048.

This piece was composed in August 2011. After playing Beethoven's 5th Symphony (1st movement) a few times in a conducting class, the idea of using its opening motif came to my mind immediately. Thus, I played around with it, changed it to a major key, sort of jazzed it up and made the two bassoons play it a 2nd apart to create a clash in tonality in the introduction. After that, another melody takes over and it is played in a fun and jovial interaction between the three instruments right up till the end.

"I Believe" was originally composed on 3rd December 2014 for solo piano but it was still incomplete then. It was recently revised and arranged (with the famous American saxophonist, Kenny G in mind) for soprano saxophone and piano. Finally completed on 23rd December 2022. it is dedicated to the talented Singaporean saxophonist, Samuel Phua.

When I composed this piece in 2010, I had an image of a family of four having breakfast in their little white cottage while looking out into the garden. It is a beautiful, breezy and sunny morning and the flowers are gently swaying in the breeze. This track is taken from my album, "Music Diaries", and it is for oboe (or flute) and piano.

"By The Fireplace", the 4th and last movement from "On Vacation", was composed on 5th December 2005. It describes a couple spending a romantic time together in front of a fireplace in winter during Christmas season. Sipping champagne, they talk about life, loved ones and their goals in life. They also re-declare their love and appreciation for each other. As the evening draws to a close, they lovingly embrace and look out the window at the falling snow and into the night sky.

"Dancing By The Stream" is a lively and jovial piece about a couple in love (represented by the flute and oboe) having fun and dancing by the stream, as the title suggests. It was composed in 2001 for voice in a songwriting class but was deemed too instrumental. It was later revised and rearranged for flute, oboe and piano in 2009.

Like every fairytale with happy endings, "Dance of Spring" describes a group of individuals enjoying life and basking in their success in achieving their dreams.

It was composed on 16th June 1999 originally for flute and string quartet. It was then arranged for flute, harp and string orchestra in 2016, and it had its world premiere on 9th April 2016 by Methodist Girls’ School String Ensemble, conducted by Music Director Edward Tan.

"Reflections" was composed on 29th August 2013 and it was inspired by American composer, Eric Ewazen. Having played his trio for flute, horn and piano, I like the very pastoral feel in that piece, especially the 2nd movement. Thus, I decided to write something in that direction. I use the clarinet and horn because I like their warm tones and (to me personally) very pastoral feel.

"Crossroads" was composed on 31st December 2013 and it is dedicated to Chirea Cello Quartet, a newly-formed quartet consisting of Tian XIE, Chang PAN, Hang-Oh CHO and Hyung-Jun LEE. It depicts a group of youngsters unsure of what to do with their lives upon graduation.
