Sharee - No Soy Nadie

Based on a real adoption listing by the humane society of Chattanooga, TN, I wrote the backstory of Nash the Dog and turned it into a ballad. He's not found his forever home yet, the listing says, because he is "prey-attracted." In other words, he was trained to hunt, and he's good at it. Poor Nash! He's a good dog.

With hints of Edith Piaf, a heartbroken female singer tells of waking three times a night to mourn for a lost love. An aspiring poet, he dumped her in favor of his ambitions to be a shining light in the literary world. Her attempts to convince him to settle for her love, and for the simple life, have failed. She knows he will pursue fame, potentially diabolically, but that she wouldn't have chosen to let him go, a thought that haunts her.

I wrote this for a friend who died suddenly.  We were all heartbroken at the House of Representatives, where we all worked.

Based on a dream I had in response to strange environmental events. A social commentary that poses the question - what would we do if one of the planetary bodies were to disappear for no reason? "All the earthlings search in vain for lonely little Mercury..."
