Tel Aviv’s Red Axes are one of the most exciting new acts in dance music, with rich sound that is musical, deep, trippy and organic, while remaining precise and lethally effective in the club. The range in their sound is impressive, their talent unmistakeable. They are one of our favourite artists of the year, and this latest record is one of their best yet.

Lead track 'Waiting for a Surprise’ builds around a mid-tempo disco bassline, with tough percussion, and rugged synth stabs, but it’s the eerie and unique sounding vocals of Brazilian collaborator Abrao that bring everything together. This one is a guaranteed bomb for building up, tearing down, peak time or chilling out… an outstanding track in every sense, the kind that force trainspotters to the DJ booth to discover what’s playing. Next up, ‘Hope’ kicks off with resonant, delayed toms, adding a haunting howl and synths before dropping into a wild, clanging, carnivalesque frenzy. It’s understated, but advanced, with an interesting arrangement that really opens up in the second half. Finally, 'The Metal Bender’ slows the tempo but ups the vibe into an elated, slow-burning space-disco anthem. Fantastic stuff!

Melbourne’s Kris Baha, fresh from launching his Power Station imprint, offers a stripped down remix of ‘Waiting for a Surprise,’ with a heavy, industrial-influenced groove that wanders into the deep, dark end of party strasse.

Berlin’s Ryan Davis has carved out a niche all of his own over the past 10 years, releasing exquisite melodic techno and electronica on revered labels Bedrock, Traum, and his own Klangwelt label. Along the way he’s been championed by Sasha, Stephan Bodzin, Hernan Cattaneo and John Digweed, and collaborated with Max Cooper and Applescal. The ‘From Within EP’ marks his first original release on Anjunadeep following memorable remixes of Andrew Bayer and Olafur Arnalds.

The cinematic ‘Paper Rockets’ begins the EP in subtle fashion, showcasing Ryan’s talent for intricate production and mellow moods. ‘Brun’ a stand-out from last year’s ‘Anjunadeep 07’ compilation has the hallmarks of an Anjunadeep classic, combining club-ready sounds with emotional melodies that tug at the heart-strings.

‘Crawne’ takes things deeper and darker, blending a chugging slo-mo groove with spacey atmospherics. Ryan takes things full techno on ‘Undine’ a peak-time cut laced with dystopian soundscape and driving drums. We return to cinematic ambience on EP closer ‘Beyar’, a stunning slice of deft melodies and vivid celestial samples.

I like to call this the bizzaro version follow up to 'Audience' as it features songs that never made the cut and demo versions of songs that did. There are also b-sides from vinyl singles plus a special mix of the original song sampled for "What's The Altitude" by Curtis Knight.

Sol Selectas is excited to welcome Kora to the label with his debut 2 track release the "Caddo EP". The title Caddo is inspired by the confederacy of several Southeastern Native American tribes, and the music brings us to a late night ceremony. All the members of the tribe are united and chant together, and thru the native drums we feel the strength of their gathering. Wahiba - co-produced by Nic Falardeau, is the story of a lone nomad wandering the desert, confronting his fears, and overcoming them with his inner spirit.  The faith in his heart guides him along his path. Powel is well known for his soothing deep productions, and appears here on Sol Selectas for his second remix. He brings the Wahiba pilgrimage to even further regions of the sand dunes, blissfully carrying us into the morning sunrise with his unique and patient approach to rhythm. The artwork by Helia Jamali fuses these two spiritual journeys together into one, visualizing the native's eternal quest under a dim moonlit sky, warmed by the fires of  tribal unity.

Patrick Kunkel makes his debut on Sincopat with a release of Techno in capitals. The German talent presents three slices of the best European Techno in form of a clever and strong release, including also a delicate and convincing remix from San Francisco man, but Berliner now, Clint Stewart.
Open Circuit provides a raw energy in a constantly crescendo. The track's sections are joined by subtle 303 modulation making it as captivating as it is unpredictable. This one will make it for all the 4x4 lovers. Patrick re-visited the track forgetting the beat and creating a solid twist of an electronic music piece.
