This compilation is in celebration of our Berlin party, Cocktail d’Amore, which we started with Boris five years ago along visual direction by Pindar (GoldNSour). What began as a gay monthly focused on bringing quality music into the alternative culture of Berlin has grown to be host to a diverse range of open minded freaks,queers and more seeking a carefree atmosphere. The music we have compiled is a reflection of the variety of sounds our guests expect from the unique Cocktail experience.

my day - short version

Fluidly hurtling in hot after NAA012, the newborn and MODXI, brings a refreshing ambience to Not An Animal Records with a deluxe, tasteful and elegant new release. MODXI is Sam Watts, who, with the help of his improvisational jazz saxophonist father, Trevor Watts and talented electronic producer Thomas Gandey, bring the new beat, Amalgam. The end result? A wondrous 11-minute shuffle that offloads some pure emotive action. Choosing to cruise hood down, Dark-Wave-esk drums skid towards a persistent synth wobble and transmogrify into a sentimental masterpiece. Striking piano chords stretch to the foreground and Trevor’s breathtaking sax complete the succulent harmonies, adding some serious psychotropic seasoning. On the B, experienced moonwalker Roman Flügel rattles the original into a nostalgic Techno bruiser - Toxic, pernicious, and seriously alluring. It winds up and down, weaves in and out, and in signature Flügel fashion adds more psychedelic edge. Whistling synth shots and a growling chunky bass are added to the captivating atmosphere, just before fully kicking off with destructive arpeggiation in the second half. Ouch! To close, the ever so mysterious Frank Butters returns for some explosive remix material, this time coming through with a deadly Electro heater. Watt’s saxophone scorches through the high end alongside a howling bass-line undertone, taking this track someplace else. Stylish Vocoder & synthesiser licks add the finishing touches to this stomper.

B1 - Amalgam - Roman Flügel Remix / Not An Animal

Following on from Type-303’s breakthrough The New Ravelution EP, Insult To Injury areproud to present You Ruined SST For Me EP by long time label friends, Pink Skull.We first heard Vr4l4r last year and immediately knew we had to put it out, as itmanages to be both an acid banger and a chordal, emotive piece simultaneously. No mean feat. F4n4pt turns up the heat (and the grit) with groove laden drum machines and analogue synthesisers firing machinegun-esque rhythms over the top. S4phr1s is aslightly weirder affair, as atonal bleeps & noises are anchored by the pounding 4/4 kickdrum.
Finally, label boss Timothy Clerkin provides a dance-floor-ready version of S4phr1s : 808‘s boom and 303’s squelch – it’s an acid workout for the warehouse.

Volta Cab's Rambal Cochet moniker delivers a hard-driving, punchy techno number that is equal parts EBM and Goa trance in it's influences.  The perfect track to push the energy through the roof like an out-of-control nuclear reactor.  Vinyl out in early July.

10th release on the label comes from Bogdan from Saint-Petersburg, also known as Krjuk and member of duo Soft Metal. 

Four original tracks on the EP are full of breakbeat influences with acid lines and quirky percussions, filled with weird vocal cuts, wonky and atmospheric melodism. This combination ends up in some finest leftfield sound in the result.

We got Miskotom from Vilnius on the remix bringing dark and mystic vibe to the title track while ИДА co-founders Uninc & Kolomensky make a touch on ‘Sevkabel Acid’.

Free Love, the artists formerly known as Happy Meals return to Optimo Music with 'Extreme Dance Anthems' a phantasmic mini album from their hearts to yours.

They say:
“We recorded EXTREME DANCE ANTHEMS in our recently moved studio, 'Full Ashram Celestial Garden' which is now situated in a building that holds both a church below us and a sex club next door. Most of the tracks were formed from late-night sessions that we started to kind of ritualistically hold, inspired from a particular thought or idea that we later cut down and did a live mixdown of. The music is about physicality and the metaphysical - it is about a recontextualisation of the ineffable as a centre point of existence which in turn influences how we engage with everything around us. A celebration of the unquantifiable, unspeakable, indivisible EXPERIENCE as the throne from which all ideas are derived. Even though the world is fucked- we are here.

On the face of it - I realise that this description might just seem like apolitical hippy bullshit but fuck that - as a deliberate result of the modern political landscape, our societies' individual and collective disengagement with the metaphysical has led us to treat other humans, animals and our environment like resourceful statistics rather than something that actually holds any inherent value. An Inner Revolution of the foundations of our reality in a way that reintroduces the essence of existence, and not merely its describable derivatives, into the conversation of how we should live our lives INFORMS our perception of the world in a way that demands us to ACT. The record is about a kind of gradual awakening between the two of us - a reconnection with the magic around us. 

The ineffable is not without moments of illumination- mostly in the form of immediate absurdity: 
ONE DAY WE WILL ALL BE DEAD BUT HERE WE ARE ALIVE INSTEAD.

LER 1022/MS03 - LITIA=LOE’s Each Dawn Every Dawn

A nearly-lost existential house anthem from Chicago’s second generation, heavily under the influence of Ron Hardy, European EBM, and the struggle of daily life in the city’s marginalised neighbourhoods.
LITIA=LOE (Life In The Insane Asylum = Life On Earth) formed in Chicago amidst the burgeoning house movement of the 80’s. 

Leon Williams, Daryl Wilson, and brothers Grant and Simeon Rogers would meet up every weekend to soak up the sounds at local clubs like Music Box, Medusa, The Power Plant, The Warehouse, and Frankie Knuckles’ Dance Palace, where DJs would mix everything from disco to new wave, industrial to house music. After the clubs closed, they would retreat to Leon’s basement to experiment with synths, inspired by what they had just witnessed at the clubs.

At the time, the record barely made it out of Chicago, but the group did have a chance at notoriety. Rocky Jones of D.J. International Records offered up a “Blood contract” for joining the label. The group declined and the group remained a mystery.

More than 30 years later Each Dawn Every Dawn will finally be available again (no blood contracts needed). Due out though Left Ear records and Mixed Signals,  on the 27th of March 2020. Distro through Rushhour, Seance Centre or Direct in the Antipodes

I create Press & Promotional campaigns to promote new music releases. Predominantly 'Underground House', 'Techno', bit of 'Balearic' and my beloved 'Disco'.   I'd like to think I have a very personal approach, working with friends & contacts simply sharing great music over a chat. I choose only to work with music I adore, so you can be sure I'll be passionate when I am promoting your stuff . I strive to get your release placed, mentioned and played in all of the 'relevant' places as well as getting the 'right people' to endorse it. I'll provide you with good quality feedback to help drive the sales of your release pre launch as well as placing physical records into the hands of VIP players.  As with these things.. it's hard to predict exactly what we will achieve... but what I can promise is that I'll throw a hell of a lot passion and enthusiasm at it and that, coupled with my track record so far,  the result shouldn't be  too shabby.
