Modern funk star XL Middleton has been leading the way in the genre for over a decade now with his MoFunk imprint and he is a longtime collaborator with both Soul Clap and FSQ. This 3-track EP is the result of a studio collaboration between XL Middleton, MoFunk’s leading lady Moniquea, Soul Clap’s Charles Levine and FSQ’s Chuck Da Fonk at Empire Studios in San Francisco. 

‘Brand New’ is a house anthem featuring Moniquea’s inspirational vocal, XL Middleton’s bright piano chords and wailing synth solo. The song is underpinned by Soul Clap’s devotion to house music’s gospel roots and New York and New Jersey swinging drums. ‘Feeling Wide’ taps into FSQ’s ‘80s new wave style with Moniquea’s layered, punk-funk vocals evoking New York City downtown disco. While the fast paced ‘Brand New’ is meant to uplift, ‘Feeling Wide’ is a syncopated song about self-depreciation. 

Charles Levine’s remix of ‘Red Light’ closes out the set with an ode to California car culture. It’s a Chicago booty house inspired take with Charles’ knocking drums set against XL’s sinister high frequency G-Funk synth lines. This one is a monster that set the Movement Detroit 2025 festival on fire.

Aptly, if it wasn’t going to be label boss Eddie Leader, Curtis is the natural choice — having contributed more tracks across more releases than any other artist in the label’s history.
Across ten tracks, Iron Curtis delivers a journey that moves between deep house, ambient textures, and eclectic grooves, flowing effortlessly from club-ready jams to home listening moments. The warm ‘Speak to Me Baby (Ambient Mix)’ opens proceedings before the synthy, Berlin-tinged ‘1Up’ sets an understated groove. ‘Roxy’ and the title track ‘Dial Me In’ bring rich chords and deep house warmth, while lead single ‘Troubles’ delivers a hypnotic, low-slung sway. ‘Tensione’ strips things back with bass-heavy, breakbeat energy, and ‘Bodycode’ rides a beautifully deep house pulse. JKriv returns to Rocksteady Disco after a six-year break with his stunning ‘Adaptation EP’. 

This super solid five tracker continues J's hot streak on seemingly every great label around the world including his own Razor-N-Tape, with a deep organic sound, thanks to it being mostly produced in his MPC3000 era. 'Greene Street Lament' kicks it off on a boom bap beat tip. Next 'Adaptation' gets the party started with lush strings, piano, and a huge bassline. On the flip is 'Total Pleasure', a midtempo boogie house joint with enough sub to rattle your car door handles off. 'Vibetown' continues on the MPC tip with killer breaks and chops for all the heads. Lastly, the 'Adaptation (Dub)' closes out with the driving dance floor sound we all know and love JKriv for. DC Promo Tracks: Ellis Aaron "Got It Bad" (Sean McCabe Dub)

Cyphon Recordings proudly presents the latest release from Berwick, a Sheffield by Bristol producer and DJ carving out a reputation for razor-sharp electro and forward-thinking club sounds. With a background steeped in underground electronic music, Berwick has steadily built his name through a string of uncompromising releases and energetic live and DJ sets, blending the grit of classic electro with a modern rave-inspired touch. His new EP showcases his most refined work yet—four tracks built for the floor, designed to move bodies and shake systems.
 
Opening with ‘Fall & Melt’, Berwick sets the tone with a punchy, contemporary electro cut. Its driving percussion, crisp groove, and propulsive energy make it a peak-time weapon, balancing raw dancefloor impact with seriously fat production finesse. Next up, ‘Powerflip‘ dives deeper into the shadows. Gnarly synth lines, guttural bass, and clipped vocal hits collide to create a darker, more menacing side of Berwick’s electro vision. With eyeball-rattling low-end, it’s a track that demands a big system to unleash its full force.
 
On ‘Impossible’, Berwick shifts gears into an even faster lane. Elasticated bass and synths bounce around the crisp drum groove, pushing the pace with an adrenaline-fueled rhythm that’s as urgent as it is infectious.   Rounding off the EP, fellow Bristolian Sam Lester takes ‘Powerflip‘ into new territory with a remix that leans towards wonky tech house. Stripping back some of the raw menace of the original, Lester reshapes it with a 4 on the floor kick, layering in hypnotic textures and a slick low-end that makes it a tripped-out weapon for house and techno sets alike.
 
This release cements Berwick’s position as an artist unafraid to push electro into bold and uncompromising spaces, while also opening the door to cross-genre interpretations.

DC Promo Tracks: Lakehouse "Secret Plants"

Oslo collective Lakeshouse invite you into a fictitious club-utopia on their kaleidoscopic debut album, ‘Om Verda Mi’. The new school Norwegian producers distil a rich heritage of Scandinavian disco and electronica into 12 dazzling cuts. 

The ultra talented trio is made up of producers, DJs and jazz musicians who have been friends since kindergarten. Their sound is club-friendly but inventive, full of off-kilter charm and playful musical personality that was laid bare on their debut EP for cult label Paper Recordings back in 2019. The space house and disco sounds featured crisp production infused with a cheeky sense of humour and a broad range of influences from Scandi, classical, Italo and techno to Aphex Twin, pop and other leftfield styles. Add in skilled instrumentals, rich creative synergy and psychedelic colours, and you have the soundtrack to a wild utopian escape. 

All of this plays out in ‘Om Verda Mi’, which re-imagines celebrated Scandinavian sounds from greats like Röyksopp, Studio Barnhus, Lindstrøm and Todd Terje. The record kicks off with celestial synth cascades on 'Introfil' before being swept up on 'Ubergrensa Harmoni’ and its rubbery groove and lush layers of shiny bright harmonic bells. 'Eg Star Opp I Dag' rides a more thumping house beat, embellished with swooning strings and jazzy chords, while 'Nitti' gets glitchy with grinding rhythms and chopped up samples. 

There's a blissed-out moment to pause on 'Secret Plants' with filtered vocals and twinkling keys that get you gazing up at the sky. 'La Playa' is a mix of restless strings, old school piano vamps and florid vocal ad libs. 'Ondekoza' is a punchy, dubby Italo house and disco collision, while 'Lakes House' sinks into synth modulations with smoky late-night energy. 'Renates Dans' takes off on lithe pads and hooky pixel-thin 80s leads, 'Ensom' layers wonky rhythms and indie vocals and 'Evig Kjaerleik' spins out on pumping house straight from an 80s Nintendo. The 'Outrofil' closes out with warm, sentimental melodies that gather you round the fire in deepest Norwegian winter.

We’ve got a very special release for you here from Manuel Tur and Adrian Hoffmann going under their Clavis guise.  Regular followers of the label will no doubt be familiar with their project having previously released four EP’s on Freerange and gaining a lot of love from the likes of Dixon, Ame and Solomun in the process.  

The duo have also recently remixed Ane Brun, made a full EP for André Hommen’s These Eyes label and had a track included on the latest Innervisions Secret Weapons V/A under their Amberoom moniker. 

Camira sets the tone for the EP with a percussive groove which balances electronic and organic sonics perfectly. Hazy synth chords give way to a seismic, snaking, analogue bassline before a plucked cross-rhythm sample takes centrestage bringing a drifting quality to the track.  The track exudes deep, hypnotic and mesmerising qualities but with a tough, driving feel which will make this sound incredible on a big system. 

Title track Wirefire comes next and takes things in an altogether darker and tougher direction but without ever sacrificing it’s amazing groove.  This is just our kind of techno - speaker-shaking low end, intense yet perfectly timed bending synth notes creating some serious drama, and a minimal drum groove which is guaranteed to bring heat to the dancefloor. 

Closing out this brilliant release we have Matinada, a gentler, more melodic workout to bring us back to earth following the craziness of Wirefire.  Building Crumar string chords add a euphoric feel without getting overpowering and little synth motifs drift in and out of focus keeping things interesting and evolving without becoming cluttered or too dense, something which Clavis are absolute masters of!
