The man of the moment @samgoku steps up and provides our eighth Podcast. After releasing his gorgeous debut EP with us over the summer, Sam Goku has since released on the highly acclaimed imprints Anjunadeep and Kindisch. His ability to conjure such colourful and nostalgic melodies has inspired us and no doubt many others around the world.  We had the honour of listening to this nice and loud whilst driving around a quiet, sunny island and it was a memorable experience.  It’s a joyous celebration of music that perfectly demonstrates the sound of Oleeva and of course Sam Goku. Enjoy the podcast and learn a little more about it below in a short interview.

Firstly, Thank you, what a special podcast. What is the track you opened it with? It’s a really incredible piece of music. What other tracks did you include and how did you go about creating the podcast?

Thank you! I opened the podcast with Peter Broderick's "A Ride on the Bosphorus" - it's a beauty. It came out on Erased Tape Records, one of my favourite labels. In a World where musical pieces become shorter everyday, it takes courage and some nobleness to create a piece of 17 minutes where every second is beautiful. I was so overwhelmed by the story it told that i had to include it as opening track. The other tracks are a mixture of some classics i've always enjoyed, great music by friends and family and two tracks of my own, of which one is not released yet. I came across that little closing track just in a random music listening session and i instantly fell in love with it.

I’ve noticed your style, productions and selections evolving with what seems like a little more inspiration and influence from the likes of Robag Wruhme, Studio Barnhus, Pampa Records and Permanent Vacation. Is that fair to say? Their unpredictable take on electronic music certainly inspires us a lot, what is it about their music you love?

Yes that may very well be. It's somehow just quite unpredictable what music i enjoy most at a particular time. It just has to touch me and i'll be influenced by it. To talk about Pampa, Studio Barnhus and Permanent Vacation i think it's the timeless approach they have in their music. They're just doing their thing year after year and thats what i love about it.

In our last interview we asked Daniel what music he would choose in certain situations, id love to know what you would play in the same ones. 

Closing track at Dekmental:  If i imagine the situation, i think i would play a classic. Really depends on the festival and the vibe though, but luckily there are a lot of classics in every genre of music!

A Wedding (full of aunties, uncles and grandparents):  I would play a mix of some smooth house and the heroes of their youth, so maybe i would play the Beatles but what i already know is that i would have do a lot of research and preperation before, haha.

Waking up and getting out of bed: I've had the same standard alarm tone for years. If i had to choose a new one, it would be Axel Boman's Fantastic Piano!

Your in a spaceship with all your friends about to land on the moon: Same as my new alarm tone, haha!

The title of your podcast, Sziran, what does it mean? 

It's an alternation of "Ziran", which is chinese and means "Nature, naturally, effortless, freely...".

You've recently been travelling in the far east right? Where did you go and how was it??

Yes, i've visited China and Japan. I've been to China very often but what i can say is that the older i get, the more i feel the connection to the people, the culture and of course the food. When i was younger, i didn't enjoy it so much because i wanted to stay with my friends. Now it already feels like a second home.
I enjoyed Japanese culture a lot. Everything there seems to be more introvert, more quiet and mysterious. But with all that swings a lot of beauty. I will definitely go back someday.

Yagya's Rigning album from 2009 is the Icelandic producer's most acclaimed dub, techno and minimal masterpiece. Due to popular demand, Delsin are now re-issuing it across three slabs of vinyl. Previously only available as a double pack with eight tracks, the new re-mastered version features all 10 of the tracks from the original CD.

Guðmundsson has been making music for years both solo and as part of the Thule Musik collective. He is an album specialist who has worked as Yagya since 2002 and has put out six albums since then. They come on labels like Force Inc and Sending Orbs - where Rigning was first released - and manage to be both absorbing and detailed yet suitable for relaxing background listening. His last two albums, Sleepygirls (2014) and Stars & Dust (2016) appeared on Delsin Records.

Rigning is essentially one long track split into movements. It depicts a city sleeping as gentle rain falls and dubbed out grooves zone you out. Yagya's style is always patient and slow burning, his grooves are long and drawn out and his pads reach up into the heavens. This whole album in coated in a warm fuzz and is a real comfort on dark, long, cold nights. 

As insular and melancholic as it is, there is also plenty of beauty in the melodies and delicate keys. From dark and gloomy to more optimistic and meditative, there is a sophistication throughout this always cinematic album that continues to make it stand out nearly a decade after it was first released.

COSMO mit Michael Mayer (WDR) - Episode 10

Iro Aka are Carles Rocamora & David Iriarte who met back in years in Barcelona. They were joined through a love of DJing and a passion for all forms of music. 
When we talk about Barcelona, we talk about tapas, architecture, flamenco and electronic music. In recent years, Barcelona has become one of the leading cities in the electronic music industry taking a huge number of festivals and gigs from the best DJs and musicians of the planet. Iro Aka is clear product of fusion of cultures in this wonderful city. The guys are producing (soon they will release their first EP "Futur" alongside such cool men as are TAPAN and Anatolian Weapons, in my label Elephant Gait Music and which is already supported by Vladimir Ivkovic, Lena Willikens, Alexis Le Tan, Odopt, MR TC and some more finest figures of the scene) they are playing (paid attention people like Javi Redondo, Luis Costa and Playground Records djs in the name of few) and they are collecting music (this mix is clear evidence of this).
I was waiting for so long for this moment and now im very much happy to give a warm welcome to this very talented duo in the 44,100Hz Social Club.
