Recorded in 2001 - A unique combination of two talents come together Rod Garfield & Jimi Hocking. This is a hard recording to get hold of and I am proud to have a copy sent to me by Rod many years ago.

Rod Garfield on Jimi Hocking: "Reminiscent of James Dean, he pulled two axes from the trunk of a '65 Valiant; like he had no time to re-string his guitars before the nights gig at the Sorrento Hotel. A moment of tranquil sunset melting the blue hues of Port Philip Bay was suddenly shattered by a raucous chord from his Strat. Time to strut. A few licks later, I was suckered and reached for a handful of harps. The rest is history, because every gig pumped more of that special chemistry; thriving on unpredictable 'feel'. Welcome Mr. Jimi Hocking. Unrehearsed and flying by the seat of our pants, "off the wall" doesn't describe it. These tracks are "raw as" kick ass blues" with no tricks, no metronomes (or garden gnomes) to keep rhythm .. . just the 'Human' foot. Once locked in behind the harmonica neck-brace, like Hannibal, I take no prisoners and wield a broken glass bottleneck up and down my 6 and 9 string guitars to make sure. Discern my influences. Enjoy Jimi vying on vocals, various guitars and mandolin."

This, along with The Stonefox Chase, is pretty much Rod's theme tune. Harp in hand he will always oblige with a blow out of 'Countryline Special' - this recording made in Australia in 1998. Recorded by Mark Keen on October 4th 1990 at The Hamster Pub (now The Old Bell & Crown) Hatherden, nr Andover England. First Thursday of every month you could catch The Rod Garfield Blues Band banging out the twelve bar until the early hours. We'd leave very merry with the sound of the Delta ringing in our ears all the way home - great nights had by all.

A rare treat. Rod Garfield performing The Stonefox Chase also know as the theme music to the British 70's music program 'The Old Grey Whistle Test' - a blinfding perfomance from Rod who is regarded in his homeland as a UK Blues Legend and was once quoted by BBC Radio One Blues Show Presenter, Alexis Korner as "the best white blues harmonica player in the world".
