Collect Beats is all about finding the magic that lies in the meditative state of mind that shrouds you when listening to carefully sampled loops and delightful soundscapes. The handpicked contributing artists are those of who we found this kind of magic in their creations, all coming from different backgrounds but the shivers down your spine is the same. 

While we truly believe all the beatmakers in this compilation are driven by fresh attitude and forward thinking, the two sides of the album showcase the diversity in the artists’ mindscapes. We like to imagine “Side A” as the adventurer eat-it-all youngster pulling the carpet under your fit, spending his time in his stereo laboratory putting his focus on synthesizing the next thing you’ve never heard before. Then we’ve got “Side B”, the older brother that puts the effort on the capturing nostalgic atmospheres in quality that ‘they just don’t do anymore”, living side by side to the analog hiss, dazed off by old R’n’B vinyls spinning in his bedroom, a spliff in his hand, door closed.

he idea behind Collect Beats is to gather up our favorite underground beatmakers from all around the world and tie their creations together by strings of common vibes to arouse mutual inspiration and creative innovation. Making a sincere effort in pushing forward underrated talents, and exposing new listeners to the raw beauty of beatmaking.

Shash'U is a Montreal producer, DJ and songwriter who has been active for the past ten years and has been associated & supported by A-Trak, Diplo, Chromeo, Dām-Funk, Kaytranada, What So Not, C2C, Q-Bert, JustBlaze, Les Twins & Rihanna. His beats have been resonating in the street dance culture. Since his coming in the game, there hasn't been a single battle without a "Shash" banger. His EPs (released on Fool's Gold Records) and remixes available online, have earned him international recognition and invitations to some of the greatest DJ gatherings and festivals, including Boiler Room, Low End Theory, Piknic Electronik, Redbull Thre3styles, RBMA Basscamp, Igloofest & Juste Debout. Shash’U describes his style as PWRFNK (Power Funk), a genre he made popular through the distinct character of his drums, the ubiquity of his bass and his melodies influenced by 80´s funk revisited with an urban / 808 boomin' /street beat flavour that can stand tall next to today's urban club music. Today Shash'U is Artistic Director for his new imprint Joy Ride Records based in Montreal, aiming international success.
