Sequentia (@sequentia666) is a DJ and facilitator based in Tāmaki Makaurau, drawing influence from the bass-heavy culture of their Ōtautahi roots and their earlier experimental / improvisational projects. Sequentia has shared stages with the likes of Mechatok, Tim Reaper, Moktar, Mike Q, Loefah and James K. They host a monthly radio show on @95bfm called ‘Soundbleed’, and in 2020 they founded @relatedarticles - which functions as a monthly broadcast, a club night and a record label “at the forefront of releasing some of the most forward-thinking electronic music in the country” [Flying Nun]. In 2019 they co-established the biennial 3-day experimental music event 'Outlier Festival', a multi-modal project platforming new electronic music from Aotearoa’s experimental and exploratory practitioners.

Diesel (@diesel_wav) is a DJ Artist based in Tāmaki Makaurau and one of the co-creators of NYMPHO, an underground queer club night dedicated to the liberation of body and sound. Armed with a carefully curated selection, Diesel blends club music into electrifying, high-energy electronic sets to unlock hips and shed skins across the dance-floors of Aotearoa.

The 49th release of katharsis is the album “Underbearing” by Danish artist Zack Christ, coming out in full on February 10th. The album follows his 2024 album “𐘲(𐘨)𐚎𐘲𐝥𐃀𐘡𐘴𐝂.” released with the international artist collective glitch.cool, but takes a few steps away from his usual more cryptic expression by incorporating elements of crystalline clarity and stark four chord anthemic melodies. This clean sound design is juxtaposed by slightly out-of-tune vocals, obscure speech and saxophone(!) samples, and the at times anarchic compositional switch-ups.

Across its 9 tracks, “Underbearing” offers an emotional snapshot of a tumultuous time in the artist’s life, marked by loss and new beginnings. While the album resists strict thematic boundaries, it’s suffused with feelings of grief, transformation, and resilience. Layered with undertones of global and personal crises, the music captures a striking duality—holding both gravity and playfulness in equal measure. In this poignant rollercoaster of sound, meaning remains open, inviting the listener to explore their own interpretation of its vivid contrasts and complexities.
