This is inspired by Aphex Twin's ambient works and the new Daniel Lanois album. 

The song started as 8 channels of signal generators in Pro Tools, each tuned to pitches along an A minor 13 chord. These were submixed to an aux channel with some simple processing consisting of a few delays and a reverb. The harmonic saturations comes from overdriving a particular delay 's input. 

The piece was performed live, printing the take as I played. The printed track was sent out of the box into two Chameleon Labs EQs and then into two DBX 165s. Additional mastering done with Ozone 5 Advanced in the box.


Sketch #1

Another ambient sketch, this time with some drumming, pretty much another take on the Daniel Lanois feel. Bunch of sine waves going into some reverb and delays, bit of saturation from hitting one of the delays hard. Then used Chameleon Labs EQ and DBX 165's on each stereo track, then back ITB I used fabfilter ProQ2 and Izotope's Ozone 5 advanced. Additional limiting done with McDSP ML1.
