For February’s edition of our mix series we are extremely hyped to welcome in one of Leeds’ very best - Lila!

Across the past year Lila has become more and more involved in supporting local talent right here in Leeds. When she’s not curating residencies at Hyde Park Book Club, Lila co-runs both Deep Fry and Brain Dance, the collaborative night between HPBC and Eiger Studios.

Having played at SUBDUB, Keep Hush x ORBS, Dance More as well as supporting Bicep at Headrow House, there’s no doubt that Lila has quickly become a staple of the Leeds scene. And her GAB guest mix shows why! 

Gracefully blending between broken beat, uk funky, breaks, electro and ukg, Lila exhibits her eclectic collection and inventive mixing style - don’t sleep on this one!

We're firing up the engine again with APECAST and we kick start the next phase of the series with promoter, programmer, party starter and local hero Adam Macdonald. Macca holds one of the more insightful journeys as a young promoter and is a key example for anyone wanting to break into the industry, check out our chat with the man himself over on Insta.  

Macca is the co-founder of Music Sphere, a platform born from blog posts and a party showcasing the sphere of underground electronic music. After a number of full capacity shows with Breaka, TAÑ, Ell Murphy and Phasmid, the next year is looking like prime time for the collective and we are truly excited to see their journey unfold. 

Whilst recently embarking on a new career as a programmer for live music venue Sage Gateshead,  Macca also holds DJ residencies with Subtle, Slacks and has appeared Threads and 1020 Radio. The young selctaa incorporates different genres, styles and blends in his mixes.

15th May 2022 - “Timeless Art, Touching The Heart” 

The monthly hike with Virgil always concludes with a visit to 點心餅家 - Touch Of The Heart Bakery. A morning connecting with nature and reminiscing about Hong Kong always leads us to this legendary institution. Established in 1922, by a family of immigrants from Hong Kong. This place never fails to fascinate me on multiple fronts every single time I go. Whether it is the sizzling tray of egg tarts coming straight out of the oven, seeing the bakers zoned in, creating magic or its ability to transport me spiritually to Hong Kong. Something I don’t think I can comprehend myself. 

So to celebrate 100 Years of Touch Of The Heart Bakery. We have curated this special project with some mega talented people. Hopefully this reflecting 4 Generations, dedication to the craft. The craft of literally touching hearts and creating smiles. Also was super to see Florence, a long time friend and next in line to take over at the bakery. Both being in the same year class at Chinese School decades ago, sharing a love for Marvin Gaye, Ryo Fukui and of course edits. She left me with some wonderful words by her late grandfather (Heard this from Jimmy Iovine too!) - “Give yourself time, to make something that will last forever. Egg Tart. A Timeless Art”
