Bear is a song about love. It's about having found that person who truly understands you. Through high/lows - helping you get through this crazy and very complicated thing we call life.

The song was originally written as a folk-like song - which didn't fit at all with the direction of this LP. Instead of giving up on it - we gave it an electo-pop treatment, all while keeping its folky cadence to create one of the most eclectic songs on the LP.

Exclusive preview of SHAUNLB's new LP, DAWN - Release date: March 30, 2018

Empire

DAWN is the first single from SHAUN LB's upcoming LP of the same name, which is scheduled to be released later in 2017.

Inspired by bands as varied as Tame Impala, Death Cab For Cutie, The National, Rhyn Weaver, CHVRCHES and Peter Gabriel, SHAUN LB and producer John Mullane began by sketching blue prints that would inform the musical direction of this record. Their collaboration began first as discussions on the direction Shaun's music might take. Shaun was looking for a left turn but wanted it to be taken with care. The two quickly found a work flow. Shaun would, from Moncton, pick a tempo, record a basic piano track and guide vocals and then send the parts to Halifax. John would take those parts and compose and perform a drum part. John would then write and track a bass line. In the next step, of what became their process, John would promptly mute the piano track. The two agreed without the piano - an anchor on previous releases - there was a new found freedom Shaun could explore . A process was born.
