Fall 2020 Punjabi Mashup

An amazing album promo by Chor from many years back titled  "The Re-Establishment." Sadly the album was never released but I'd managed to get my hands on this promo during msn messenger days. Here's what "The Re-Establishment" album would have sounded like, hope you enjoy!

The ongoing farmers’ protest in India started out as a protest against three new farm acts which were passed by the Indian Parliament back in September. At first farmers were protesting in their villages and cities within their respective states. However, due to no response by the government or any media outlets, farmers decided they needed to march to Delhi in order to shed light to these devastating new farm bills. 

The three new bills completely change the way farmers will go about selling their crops and favor the interests of large corporations. These bills effectively privatize the agriculture sector of India. 

What started out as a protest against three new farm bills produced the world’s largest strike, one of the most peaceful and well put together protests, and reinvigorated the people of not only Punjab but all of India to stand up in unison and fight against their unjust government. 

The incredible show of courage, compassion, and strength of these farmers has opened the eyes of todays generation to the rich and vibrant history of our people. Although this movement encompasses all regions of India and is not about any specific religion, it’s important to note Sikhi’s role in the movement. From standing up against injustice all the way to the idea of seva, the farmers’ protest is what it is today heavily due to Sikhi and its history. Taking inspiration from those who came before them, the farmers are steadfast in their resolution which is the repeal of all of the new farm bills. 

As much as I would like to put in a summary detailing the three new bills and their effects on the farmers, it would take up too much space. A few important things the new farm bills do is get rid of the marketplace system of selling crops in India, the abolishment of the MSP (minimum support price) established for essential produce, and the creation of contractual agreements with corporations.
