SNC Recs rings in the summer season with the launch of its new catalog number SNCS. The series, reserved for singles and special releases, opens with "Rave Machine" by the aspiring Parisian duo Radio Cargo.

Dan and Jay discovered their synergy in 2021 when they started their concept of a sound system on a cargo bike with a simple mantra : “sound anywhere, anytime, with anyone”. This innovative project with its old-school approach took off perfectly, quickly becoming one of the hottest illegal open air parties in the French capital and building a large fan base in just 2 years.

Their first release on an external label is defined by a pulsating and distinct bassline, clear nods to 90s house, and unmistakable rave undertones. "Rave Machine" strikes a chord with contemporary tastes and neatly sums up the duo's musical ethos. Boosted by a superb remix by Leo Pol, in the French artist's unmistakable style, this single is bound to be played throughout the summer of 2024 and beyond.

An authentic and unique artist, SeeMeNot returns to Defected with her first original Defected release ‘Together’, following remixes from Jamie Jones, Deetron and Roman Flügel for her hypnotic label debut ‘Borderline’ in 2022. Initially spotlighted as one to watch by DJ Mag and Beatportal, the Jamaican-Canadian artist and storyteller’s innate lyricism is apparent with her releases incorporating jazz, soul and hip-hop influences alongside the anonymous artist’s ethereal vocals, creating unforgettable deep house and techno compositions that pay homage to the strength, wisdom and methodology of Black and Brown women who have gone before her. Now SeeMeNot unveils the much anticipated ‘Together Part I’, produced by Berlin underground talent Aaaron, an electronic artist who first made waves on the London label with early DFTD EPs ‘Feelin This’ and ‘What Makes You Itch’. SeeMeNot’s powerful and soulful vocals permeate ‘Together Part I’, as the two producers create an understated record that builds to a blinding climax thanks to a masterful variety of synth design and percussive ingenuity. The Shawmix is a showcase of some of the tracks that are on repeat for me. They are a way for me to share the sounds that I think are noteworthy. Shawmixes are recorded live using a Traktor Kontrol S4 with Traktor Pro 3, and come with the idiosyncrasies that can be expected from live recordings.

This month's mix is inspired by the current COVID-19 atmosphere. It starts with a feeling of confusion and otherworldiness, follows into feelings of concern and despair, opens up to positive reminders that life is still very much worth enjoying, and moves toward reminiscent feelings of better times. I hope that it inspires you.
