Last Stripped Cannibal Christmas

This is a tribute piece, an instrumental track dedicated to all of the animals that myself, my family, and my friends have had the pleasure of sharing a life of good times with. This is what I hope they hear wherever they are. Forgive the glitches, my software setup isn't the best! :)

In memory of Mya, Murphy, Champ, Speck, Colors, Moomjy, Niko, Patches, Alice, Molly, Angel, and every other animal I've met that is no longer with us.

For Our Best Friends

A mostly autobiographical song about reaching the other side of a hardship with a sense of purpose and vigor. You and only you have the power. If you fall, get up. If you fail, find a way to succeed. Don't give up the fight.

Emerge

This song is about the single hardest thing I've ever gone through as an individual. I know my vox get flat at times, and the tune rushes very slightly in spots. But an imperfect, real situation deserves a song befitting of the same adjectives.

I Still Have To Live Here

I needed something lighter after my previous song upload. Fittingly, after lifting a weight off of my soul, I felt like I wanted to dance. An Omnichord is such an amazing instrument...so why not run it through an amplifier that has preset effects and push it to the limit? That's what we have here. It's a slow burner with plenty of payoffs, as a dance tune should be. In authentic DJ fashion, once I found my note pattern, I did the Omni stuff in one take, just felt it. Then added some nice club beats to drive it home. Proud of my jam.

TechnOmnichord

This was written during a snow storm on 2/17/18. I feel that our loved ones that have left this Earth, leaving us behind in sadness and confusion, would not wish for us to feel this way. There is a place for mourning, which is healthy, natural, and simply a part of this life...but we are still alive in the end. This song addresses the comfort we seek from those gone, and accepting the advice and love they send from beyond to keep us strong and happy here.

The Interlude (w/Alice Tracy Wilkinson)

My younger brother committed suicide in 2009. Late last night was the date, though he was revived by police minutes later. His brain damage from oxygen loss was too much to overcome, and we made the hardest of decisions to take him off of life support on March 6. 

I woke up today with the biggest pit in my stomach, then put the pieces together. He has a son, who just turned 18 in January. He never knew the true story of what happened to his father...when we hung out for his birthday, he asked me about it. So I sat him down and told him. His coming to me - it was his choice specifically to do so - is a highlight of my life. I wrote these lyrics about our conversation a couple of days later, and have been toying with the music since. I had a full-band idea in my head, but the emotion is so raw today that I just decided to showcase it. I've never played guitar and sang before, so it's a bit messy between that and my still figuring out how to sing. Please let it play for a few seconds...I pressed record and literally froze for a little bit, because this is so real for me. 

If any of you know somebody struggling to find their way, or too afraid to ask for help, bother them with kindness, love, and concern. Life is hard, but we're all in this together. Hug and kiss everyone you know.  

Rest in peace, Troy. And thank you, Ryan, for trusting me with this responsibility.
