01 Put the Move on It

I was trying to think of some crazy poetic way to talk about my project...but I couldn't. So I'm gonna be frank. 

You really get sick and tired of great ideas sitting on your computer.
I say "ideas"....because a real A&R 's job is to take your great "idea" ....and make the necessary changes to make it a great RECORD on a great artist.....

Without A&R's today really pushing themselves and their writers and producers, great ideas never become great records, and they never see the light of day. 

So. To make a long story short.

At a poolside studio in Miami in January of 2012 Pharrell Williams gave me the name Super Pen.... He told me "you got this. This industry is going to try to jade you...but you got this". I understand now, and I still believe it.

So meet Super Pen...

and listen to some of my journey as a writer.

Shawn Everette began to sing solos at the tender age of 13 and began writing and producing songs for himself soon after he discovered that gift. Throughout his young adulthood, in his own studio, he developed a love and gift for working with midi devices and recording audio. After graduating high school in 1989, he was accepted in a brand-new Audio Engineering Program at Nassau Community College in 1989.  That lasted a year.  Then he went on to Five Towns College in Dix Hills, New York, to further his broad based technical and musical training. There, he underwent intensive vocal training and learned some music theory, but his major was Audio Recording.  Upon graduating, he moved on to Maryland, where he attended Morgan State University, acquiring a degree in T.V. Studio Production. After graduating, he worked in a local recording studio, gaining additional experience in producing and engineering.  Other jobs include Mikes Train House as a sound designer for electric Hobby Trains.  For 8 years, Shawn was a minister of music at Living Waters, where he recorded and produced a record entitled Release The waters.  During that same time, he worked in Baltimore Public schools teaching audio engineering, music production, and song writing techniques.  During all this time, Shawn always had a home recording set up where he recorded his music and produced music for others such as WEAA music spots and BGE training videos and small budget video projects.  In 2009 He began a job working at Evangel Cathedral, where many world-renowned Gospel artists frequent.  There he mixed for artist such as Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond, Ledisi, Mary Mary, Karren Clark Sheard, Detrick Haddon, The Winans, BB and CeCe Winans, worked on Richard Smallwood live recording Anthology and Marvin Sapp’s Grammy Nominee album I Win.  Shawn Everette presently works as an audio engineer at Ebenezer AME Church in Fort Washington Maryland, where the Director of the Music Department is Ricky Dillard with Byron Cage also as a director.  He continues to sharpen his skills as an audio engineer and record music that enlightens, challenges, and moves the soul.
