The fourth edition of SHDW’s flagship ‘Federation Of Rytm’ VA series has been carefully curated by the DJ/producer and head honcho over more than a year, with close attention to detail given to sequencing. It is a balance of label regulars and debutants that represents the past, present, and future, both sonically and through the generational diversity of the artists involved. There are plenty of surprises along the way while always remaining true to the Mutual Rytm ethos and reflecting the journey of the night from start to finish, whether that's in intimate, sweaty clubs or on big festival stages.

Lars Huismann makes a quick return to SHDW & Obscure Shape’s newly minted Mutual Rytm imprint as he delivers a medley of classic, groove-driven techno productions via his ‘Sounds From The Past I’ EP. 

With recent releases via labels such as Slam’s iconic Soma, Berlin-based DJ and producer Lars Huismann is quickly growing to become a familiar name of note within today’s modern techno landscape. Having featured as one of the artists on the label’s debut V/A release in February, with the German set to feature as a regular across the imprint in coming months, he unveils fresh shades to his sound palette on his return to Mutual Rytm with a combination of six slick techno cuts across his ‘Sounds From The Past I’ EP. 

The powerful, rolling dynamics of ‘Surge’ open proceedings as Huismann quickly sets his stall, while ‘Collison’ veers into slick, looping territories as the energy and tension are kept tight and high. Next, ‘Echo’ ups the pace as tough kicks meet zipping melodies, filtered chords, and looping vocal interjections amongst a medley of flurrying percussion licks, before ‘Funk Shed’ takes cues from its title and showcases a classy blend of classic Detroit-influenced sonics guided by sweeping synths. Title cut ‘Sounds From The Past I’ brings with it flashes of serenity and peace, before erupting and spiraling effortlessly into infectious and captivating drum grooves, before closing the show via the rich yet muscular tones of final offering and digital bonus track ‘Jackin’.

SHDW is the phantom moniker of Marco Bläsi, a Stuttgart native with a penchant for racing percussions and big room sounds. 2014 saw the beginning of his long-term partnership with like-minded techno dealer Obscure Shape (Luigi Urban), with whom he co-ran the party series and label spin-off From Another Mind. Ten years later and Bläsi has set out on his own journey, building on a decade-long legacy of sounds with just himself, ‘his music, decks, and a mixer’. Following on from his previous label, he founded Mutual Rytm in 2022, an outlet and creative platform focused on putting out the type of expansive techno SHDW’s come to be known for. His signature style a blend of intelligently superimposed and shuffling basslines, blink of an eye beats that elicit movement and social bonds. Unerring prime time techno, Bläsi’s path forward is looking promising, with a surge of Mutual Rytm releases and worldwide dates, the next ten years look set to further build on what he’s achieved since he started out. Bassiani Podcast 267 is a true to type episode from this master of the genre, a sleek and contemporary spate of rumbling kicks, dizzying effects and hedonic vibrations, a chugging and groovy 65 minute edition with SHDW’s fingerprints all over it.

grooves and subtle nods to classic influences — all through his own unique lens. Having delivered standout
releases in recent years, here he offers up sounds “anchored in psychoanalysis, time, and emotional residue” as he
makes his mark on SHDW’s Mutual Rytm imprint, delivering influences of dream logic and surrealism as the palette
moves between brutality and introspection. “It’s hypnotic music for moments of rupture where something breaks or

A true pioneer of Spain’s electronic music movement, he played a vital role in bringing the country onto the global techno map and continues to inspire generations through his distinctive, timeless approach to sound and performance. As a producer, his releases and albums on his own labels Warm Up Recordings and PoleGroup Recordings stand as cornerstones of modern techno — refined, uncompromising, and deeply influential. In this mix, he delivers his signature vision: stripped-back, powerful, and unrelenting.

Across 30 tracks in the digital collection and 24 on four sides of wax, the release explores the full breadth of the Mutual Rytm sound. Driving grooves and relentless percussion set the pace, gradually unfolding into hypnotic and atmospheric passages that invite deeper immersion. Pulsating low-end power alternates with eerie minimalism, while bursts of futuristic energy and cavernous kick drums keep the tension high. Elsewhere, dub textures and moments of introspection provide balance, creating a narrative arc that moves fluidly between intensity and release, atmosphere and tension, darkness and light.

Italian techno innovator SLV returns with second EP on Mutual Rytm,
serving up a blend of raw analogue power and cinematic depth.

Sicily’s SLV is able to merge technical mastery with emotional resonance. His potent techno sounds have come via the likes of SHWD’s Mutual Rytm and Slam's Soma, and unite timeless yet forward-thinking sonics.
On ‘Fleeting Dreams’, he continues to refine his signature sound while channelling introspection and intensity into a collection of meticulously crafted cuts that balance precision and feeling, energy and space. Each track reveals a different side of his sonic identity: hypnotic rhythms intertwine with evolving soundscapes, while layers of distortion and melody merge into a dreamlike tension between the mechanical and the organic.

‘Fading Moments’ kicks off with a sleek blend of driving, supple kicks and warm synth ripples, while a euphoric vocal cry is buried deep to amp up the emotion. ‘Scenario’ then brings icy hi-hats and sinewy synths bring a futuristic feel to the unrelenting, high-pressure drums down low. ‘Daruma’ has a darker energy with menacing textures and paranoid FX bringing the rolling drums to life, while ‘Bass Grit’ has a hunched up rhythm, with groaning pads and fizzing static electricity that charge up the party. To close, ‘Shimmer’ sinks down into a muscular and deep rhythm that's marbled with restless synths and ever-rising tension.

In addition, digital bonus cuts ‘Trust’ and ‘1990’ offer different perspectives with slamming drums, seductive vocals and feisty synth loops making for two more bold, immersive techno weapons.

‘Fading Moments’ kicks off with a sleek blend of driving, supple kicks and warm synth ripples, while a euphoric vocal cry is buried deep to amp up the emotion. ‘Scenario’ then brings icy hi-hats and sinewy synths bring a futuristic feel to the unrelenting, high-pressure drums down low. ‘Daruma’ has a darker energy with menacing textures and paranoid FX bringing the rolling drums to life, while ‘Bass Grit’ has a hunched up rhythm, with  groaning pads and fizzing static electricity that charge up the party. To close, ‘Shimmer’ sinks down into a  muscular and deep rhythm that's marbled with restless synths and ever-rising tension.

Iconic Icelandic techno mainstay Exos returns to Mutual Rytm with his fifth LP, ‘Sweet Dreams’

The 12-track record is the first album on SHDW's influential label and explores the past, present, and future of techno.

Planet X label head and 20-year scene veteran Exos, hailing from Iceland, draws on his native country's influences in his work, which explores the interplay between light and dark, warmth and cold. His high-octane sounds over the last 20 years have appeared on vital imprints like Tresor, X/OZ, and, of course, Mutual Rytm, with his releases for the label having been extremely well received, garnering support from the scene’s key DJs. Whether dubby or hard, his techno is always authentic and channels the purity of the 90s style. This new album follows Exos’s inaugural X- Release, the Infrared 10", the Icebreaker 12" from last year, and his track on the latest Federation of Rytm IV compilation. It's a real journey through all facets of his sound, including a trip back to his dub techno roots, ambient explorations, and emotional vocal pieces with lifelong memories fused into sounds that reflect the artist’s decades spent in Iceland.

‘Sweet Dreams’ opens with an atmospheric intro in the form of a 28-year-old collaboration with his father. This full- bodied analogue ambient piece is rich with the mysterious tones of the Nord Modular and was recorded during their shared studio days at D17 in Reykjavík. The title track is a hypnotic, linear groove with icy synth modulations and glistening melodies. 'Hinn Víðförli' then brings dub warmth while 'State of Mind' recalls the spirit of the legendary Reykjavík club 'Thomsen', a cornerstone of Iceland’s late 90s underground scene. 'Glaður og Reifur' and
'Fögur er hlíðin'pay homage to the echoes of ancient Viking heritage, 'North of January' conveys the cold of Exos's homeland, and 'Hvarvetna' brings textured percussion and darker undertones before '101 After Dark' slows to a bass-heavy broken beat exploration of texture and post-dubstep pressure.

After the heady and atmospheric sound of 'The Dolphin Oracle', another key collaboration comes with 'Freefall', an emotional breakbeat piece featuring vocalist Amelia Rodriguez,' who also lends her voice to 'Shock', a magnificent track that channels Exos’s modern techno energy. The album closes with a haunting paradox, 'Paradise Lost,' questioning whether our sweet dreams are truly moments of bliss or simply reflections of what we’ve already left behind. The three bonus digital cuts oﬀer sleek minimalism, punchy deep techno, and suspenseful ambient.

Exos has never treated techno as a fixed language. For more than two decades, the Icelandic artist has used it as a living system, shaped by environment, memory, and physical place. Sweet Dreams, his fifth full length album and first LP for SHDW’s Mutual Rytm, is not a return or a reinvention. It is a consolidation. Past, present, and future collapse into a single body of work that carries the weight of lived experience rather than scene cycles.

Born and raised in Iceland, Exos has always worked in extremes. Light and darkness. Heat and isolation. Motion and stillness. Those contrasts have defined his output across labels like Tresor, X/OZ, and Mutual Rytm, and they remain central here. Whether operating in dubby restraint or driving, high impact techno, his sound has consistently carried the discipline and directness of 90s techno without slipping into nostalgia. Sweet Dreams does not reference the past. It absorbs it.

The album opens with its most intimate moment. An analogue ambient introduction created 28 years ago in collaboration with his father, recorded during shared studio sessions at D17 in Reykjavik. The Nord Modular tones feel suspended in time, less like an opening track and more like a doorway. From there, the title track emerges with a linear, hypnotic pull. Cold synth modulations shimmer against a steady forward motion, setting the emotional temperature for what follows.

As the album unfolds, Exos moves freely across the full spectrum of his sound. Out premiere, North of January captures the physical cold of his homeland in tone and restraint.

Sweet Dreams is not structured as a peak time statement. It is a long form narrative that moves through memory, geography, and personal history with control and clarity. The bonus digital tracks extend that language into minimal, deep techno, and ambient tension without diluting the core intent.
