EPICAST #013 - O.P.S.

@therealheidenreich is an up-and-coming artist from East Frisia who currently lives in Berlin. After years of listening to techno and house music typical of Berlin, he discovered his passion for indie dance and began to be inspired by artists like Manfredas and Red Axes.

Heidenreich began his musical career as a multi-instrumentalist in a band before focusing on producing music. Using Ableton, he creates his own unique sounds, characterised by deep and driving basses, atmospheric sounds and psychedelic guitar riffs.

Heidenreich has since released his music on a variety of renowned labels, including Duro, Jane Musica, HEARec, Belly Dance Service, Heimlich, Bonkers, Wuza Rec., Sinchi, Nein Records and Espacio CIELO. He is known for his DJ sets in and around Berlin, where he takes the audience on a musical journey.

Ademarr is a project whose essence is born from Techno & Indie, combining synthesizers and percussion to take you on a journey of acid, spatial, and groovy sounds. These sounds are infallible when it comes to making the dancefloor vibrate, and as a result of this, he has been established as a great reference in the Mexican scene.

Throughout his career, Ademarr has performed in different parts of Mexico and in countries such as Germany, Turkey, Spain, and Colombia, in prestigious clubs including Sisyphos (Berlin), Minimuzikol (Istanbul), and Goldengate (Berlin), to name a few.

He is also a member of the club Azotea 20.12 and the collective Axolotec in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico.

His music has been released on labels such as Roam Recordings (USA), Playground Records (ARG), Side Up Works (ESP), Platino (MEX), and Physical (MEX).

Every month, THISBE Recordings host an artist or a band to share with you awesome music for an hour.

For our September 2023 podcast, we host @acidwashed, a name we don´t need to introduce to you anymore. 

Indeed, the project of @andrewclaristige has been very present at THISBE, with tracks such as « Brandtaucher » co-composed with Arnaud Rebotini, on our very first compilation « Black Ink »  released in April 2022 and a stunning remix of Rambal Cochet « Oseary Drakoulias », released in December 2021. 

Furthermore, expect some new tracks & remixes by @andrewclaristidge, to be released via THISBE as soon as later this month, as he remixed @pyrame´s upcoming track « Senses High » (out on 22/09/23) and in December as a remixer for the upcoming release of @sebelzin, « Lingua Minimalista ». 

Now on for one hour of music, featuring tracks from Bandaluli, Panthera, Plastique de Rêve, Memex, Justine Forever, Nightwave and more.

It's always been a burnin' flame in James Payne's soul, right from the days when he was a brash young bam. Nae sooner had he pocketed his first wage packet in his late teens than he blew it all on a scabby set of used turntables and gear. His dreams, pure wild, were all about commandin' massive crowds, tappin' right into the same electric buzz 'we' dished out on that dancefloor.

But fate, oh she's a cruel mistress. Back then, he was stuck in a cramped four-to-a-block gaff, and that came with its own set o' headaches. His next-door neighbors, the self-righteous prats, they labeled his beats as "noise pollution." It didnae take long before he had to peddle his DJ gear just to keep the peace, silencin' the thumpin' bass that was once his heart's rhythm…

…Buts here we are, back in the saddle since January 2022, after a solid quarter-century on the sidelines. Now, he's juggling his resurged love for music, battlin' it out with the daily grind and the shackles of family life.

For James, every set he drops, it's like a twisted tale, a rollercoaster spun from the gnarly beats of his heart. There's no pigeonhole here, no rigid genre – it's all 'bout the mood, the vibe, the sweat of the night. 

Just push play, surrender to the trip, and ride the waves of his musical journey, eh?

Next up we have Israeli rising star @NivAst who is fast becoming one of our 'go to' producers. In a short time,  releases have come thick and fast on a wide variety of labels from Correspondant, Ombra and Calypso amongst others. Plus an array of remixes, most recently reworking Roe Deers on Playground Records. Get to know the man behind the music via the short interview below and listen to his peach of a mix.

1) Introduce yourself?

My name is Niv Ast, I’m a producer and dj based in Tel-Aviv

2) What have been your highlights from the last 12 months?

This year has had so many highlights its hard to choose. I've had the pleasure of playing in a lot of cool places in Europe and met some great people, also being able to release my music on some amazing labels. I'm really grateful.

3) What do you have lined up for the coming year?

Looking forward for my upcoming EP on Correspondant and another EP with Eliezer  on our own label (New Day Everyday).

Also a lot of upcoming remixes and gigs, all over the world.

@RichardRossa 's Stockholm based label Tom Tom Disco has become synonymous with quality and a home for spaced out, tribal disco that has gained legions of fans across the globe. Whether hosting a stage at festivals like Fusion or their music playing at intimate underground venues, the labels sound acquires the most discerning of electronic music enthusiasts and has a life of its own.

Recently we collaborated with the label and a selection of the Tom Tom Disco family to support Ballroom Blitz and Palestinian Radio Alhara to raise money for those most affected by the explosion in Beirut. Over the course of the coming week we're delighted to share the sets during this radio event via the Sinchi Channel. Featured artists include Leonor, Tushen Raï & Warum, Cornelius Doctor, Bufi, Hanzo & Yaman, Tony Disco, Rigopolar and Lucare b2b with Aurum.
