My friend, Tori, is running a marathon on Sunday and she asked her friends to send her a motivational message that she could play on her iPod while running. I thought this was a great idea, so I wrote and recorded her this song today. Not bad for 8 hours of sweating in an unairconditoned room. Also, this is my first proper Logic Pro project.

I lived in Sydney, Australia for 4 years.* One thing I never got used to was Christmas being in the dead of summer. Sometimes it was nice, sometimes it got up to 40ºC (~106ºF). I got used to it, but it never felt quite "right". This is my first Christmas back "Up Over" and I find myself missing a few things about Aussie Christmas: Eating prawns and drinking cold beer on Bondi Beach, barbies with friends, and walking around on Circular Quay on balmy nights.

So here's a song about it, my third for this Thing-a-Week challenge. Hope you enjoy it.

Starting out in the acoustic open mic scene, SheBlondeSwede has grown to rock audiences from Sydney to San Diego with their catchy blend of alt-country tinged power pop.

Their debut effort, The Shopping Cart EP, was created in just five days of marathon recording sessions as songwriter/frontman, Isaac Cheong, packed to move to Australia. He and producer Aaron Bowen performed nearly everything on the album, except for drums, bass, and mandolin. Most tracks were done in one take because there just wasn't time to do them again. The result is an album of classic pop with a raw, urgent edge.

These days SheBlondeSwede calls Sydney home.
