We hit the airwaves once again with 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝟰𝟬, celebrating the talent and spirit of our 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿-𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗦𝗘𝗠 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆.

Returning to hosting duties was 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗨𝗽, one of our earliest graduates and a vital thread in the LSEM fabric. Beyond her own razor-sharp selections, she’s built platforms for others too, regularly 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗗𝗝 𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶 and curating lineups through her 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 night.

We had the pleasure of being joined by rising selectors and fellow alumni 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗲, 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗮, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗿, all of whom honed their craft under the mentorship of 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗞𝗮𝗻𝗲, 𝗝𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗿𝘂 — and are now carving their own paths in London’s underground.

There were deep cuts, LSEM stories from behind the decks, and the kind of heat that fuels dance floors and late-night connections.

For our slot on Love Will Save The Day FM’s August Open Air takeover we wanted to bring our two worlds together; the urgency of rave and the imaginative spirit of experimental. The result is a set that can feel a little unsettling at times yet always remains percussive & tied to the dancefloor, with selections that highlight abstract and darker edges of electronic music chosen for the more adventurous listener 🎧

The journey begins in a restrained, leftfield mood, moving from the atmospheric techno of Laurel Halo & Hodge into the intricate breakbeats of Monophonik, before shifting into heavier UK bass territory with Breaka and the off-kilter beats of 9TRANE's Croydon Dub. From there the structure starts to splinter, veering into distortion and raw, immersive sound design with Anthony Baldino, and into warped, glitchy, malfunctioning rhythms with Ivy Lab. Out of this disarray comes release, carried by the emotive lift of La Soul’s Need to Feel Love and reaching into expansive, trance-adjacent and euphoric spaces with Twin Complex and Nowfeel 🚀

By the close the set feels like a passage from shadow into light, an exploration of contrasts. More than anything it stands as a love letter to electronic music of all forms, from the collective energy of the club to the intimacy of headphone listening, a reminder of how intensely these sounds can hold us wherever and however they are experienced ✨

Simon plays across the spectrum: from organic, tribal and deep to funky, disco-leaning, jacking, tech, and into the floatier side of progressive and melodic. With a past in production (trance and hard trance in the 90s using FL Studio) and a renewed creative spark today, he builds sets as journeys: seamless blends, unexpected transitions, and mashups that turn familiar tracks into something new.
