What do you play during hour three of a 12 hour day rave? 

This mix is an hour of cruisey psychedelic techno and house at 150 x Anomalies - 12 Hour Rave on 11 November. 

It was a relaxed sunny afternoon in the courtyard at Black Magic Bar, Naarm. The BBQ was going, the beers were flowing, and some party animals who’d been out the night before were slowly recovering. Slowly ravers came back to life and filled the dancefloor.

Here’s my 2023 Mixtape: a compilation of the tunes got me moving this year.

It features sweaty disco, locally-produced techno, unconventional house and some cheeky remixes of old favourites. Chuck it on for a party or roadtrip this summer and let me know what you think!

Closing set @ SUMMER RAVE | Lucky Schmuck | Driving Techno, Psytech and Hard Techno | 06.01.24

I was honoured to make my debut at the infamous Revolver Upstairs on Good Friday at Revolver Fridays hosted by 150 BPM, Rave Cave and Area 3000. 

At midnight, I opened the event with an hour of thumping party starters with some unexpected twists and turns. Inspired by the 150 BPM and Rave Cave sound, my vision was for a groovy, eclectic, banging journey to set the tone for the evening and keep the Revs crowd on their toes. It includes driving techno, psy-tech, house and soul vocals, hard tekkers, 80s dark synths and 90s nostalgia.

Thank you 150 BPM and Rave Cave for including me on this powerful all-femme lineup. 

Playing Revs was a huge moment for me. Thank you for listening.

Good Friday @ Revolver Upstairs | Rave Cave x 150 BPM | Driving techno | 29.03.24

On 10 May 2024, TUNNEL VISION & Friends teamed up with the Tiny Empire Collective to host a rave in a galaxy far, far away. We filled Rubix Warehouse with Jedis, astronauts, droids, space wizards and unidentified flying objects. 

I played an hour of tech house, dark techno and driving techno at 1am and if you listen carefully you'll hear some nods to classic sci-fi cinematic moments. I had an interstellar time - thanks to everyone who came down to support the event and join my unofficial birthday celebration.

I had the best time at For The People’s Rave at MyAeon in July.

I played an hour of groovy house and hard boogie in the main room. This set opened the door for me for a new sound and has plunged me into a deep obsession 🤓 I’ve even been dabbling in a bit of hardgroove.

Shell Shock (she/her) is a multi-genre DJ, party host and music nerd who loves disco, house, and techno. She has played at Revolver Upstairs, Esoteric Festival (theme camp), My Aeon, Rubix Warehouse, Killing Time, the Victorian Pride Centre and live on Kiss FM Australia.

Shell Shock is drawn to groovy, melodic, psychedelic and progressive sounds – she plays soulful euphoric house, cheeky tech-house, dark disco and driving, peak-time techno. Her sets are emotional journeys full of heart, nostalgia, energy and playfulness.

She is also one half of TUNNEL VISION with Caity Watsøn. Together they showcase disco, house, techno and silliness at events in Naarm.

Tilt Shift sits firmly left of center, a difficult-to-label square peg that unintentionally fails to fit a pigeonhole. Borrowing from the photography term, Tilt Shift refers to two different types of movement, a selective focus with a large depth of field used to control perception. This can be applied to our music policy, tilting the vertical axis resulting in a sharp area of focus without reducing the depth of field. The selective focus that can be achieved by both tilting and shifting movements, It's compelling because the effect is different from that which you may have become accustomed to. This movement is often used to avoid the convergence of parallel lines, or as we have come to think of it, it’s where the lines blur.

Shell Shock (she/her) is a Melbourne/Naarm-based DJ, party host and neurodivergent music nerd. She is drawn to groovy, melodic, psychedelic and progressive sounds. She plays soulful euphoric house, cheeky tech-house, bouncy hard dance, dark disco and driving, peak-time techno. Her sets are emotional journeys full of heart, nostalgia, energy and playfulness.

“I loved making this mix because it gave me an opportunity to show a different side of myself. I explored a more melodic, euphoric house sound with elements of trance and breakbeat – stuff I usually don’t get to play out. Progressive house and melodic techno were the genres when electronic music hooked me in my 20s, so it’s nice to re-visit my first loves.

This mix is a celebration of feminine energy in many forms - dreamy, emotional, experimental and powerful. There are lots of big feelings and soaring female vocals. We start slow and contemplative and end up in stomping our feet in the club. It took me a couple of goes to get this mix right – because it’s a blend of different genres and tempos – so it was good to get out my comfort zone.

I’ve chosen artists I admire, such as Robyn, Bjork, Kelly Lee Owens and RONA. I’m inspired by the way they push themselves creatively and stand up for what they believe in. It was important to me to include some local Australian artists, people of colour, queer people and First Nations voices. It has also prompted me to include more femme and non-binary artists in my sets in the future. I hope you enjoy it.”

Here’s my set from the 2025 Co-Exist Halloween rave in the city🎃 👻

This was one of my highlights of recent times - 90 mins of high energy hardgroove and techno - lots of 90s references, an alien abduction 👽 and a chance to dive deep into all hallows’ eve darkness around 4am 😈 🌒 

I felt totally connected to the locked in dancers and chaotic renegade rave energy. Thank you Co-Exist!

I was honoured to open the portal of THROB’s Halloween edition and send the party off into the wild night it was. Vortexes were opened, demons were shed and spells were cast late into the night. 🧙 🌙 🔮 

My set was a delight for me - easing into the festivities with a house and groove focused 90 min journey. Make sure you listen all the way to the end, the final track is one I’ve been waiting ages to play.

Shell Shock (she/her) is a DJ, party host and neurodivergent music nerd. 

She plays disco, house, bush techno, driving/peak time techno, hardgroove and hard dance. She has played at Revolver Upstairs, My Aeon, New Guernica, Aetheria Festival in Darwin and recently headlined events in Japan and New Zealand.

Her sets are emotional journeys full of heart, nostalgia, energy and playfulness.

Shell Shock has been running events in Naarm for the past few years and is currently Brand Manager for techno collective 150 BPM.
