Olukara x 2nd Son - True Love Dancefloor

One of our favourite artists from Toronto, 2nd Son is back with a second outing on our Freebie series, and this time he has enlisted the talents of the up and comer Olukara.

True Love Dancefloor is a loose and swinging party anthem with unquantized drum patterns that nod towards beathead / boom bap aesthetics, combined with modern funk / soul elements, including analog synthesizers and wah wah guitar accents. The song was originally produced in 2015 as an instrumental for 2nd Son's 'First Light' EP but has recently been given new life with the addition of Olukara, who is an emcee / songwriter and Brooklyn resident. In this collaboration, Olukara extends his vocal range by transferring the style and slang of his trademark rap verses into the arena of funk and soul, complete with memorable hooks, coy adlibs, and call-and-repsonse backups. The vibe is laid back and danceable with equal parts hip hop, funk, and R&B - one almost recalls the early vibe of SA-RA creative partners.
