Most people probably haven't heard of the term "hyperfocusing" before but it's one that specifically hits close to home for me. In layman's terms, it's something people with ADD/ADHD like myself do where we basically just get super sucked into a particular thing we find interesting, sometimes losing track of time as a whole. For better or for worse it's become integral to my music making process. If I really get sucked into an idea I can work for hours, only to end up realizing it's 6am and I've worked straight through the night!

Obviously, this song means a lot to me and I hope that it ends up being meaningful for you too.

Here's a track I made in just over a day for @wearenova's OGC 2023 event, started on my 18th birthday stream and finished in another session on the next day. I picked the Outrun genre since I've been familiar with Synthwave for a while and have always wanted to take a shot at Outrun, a genre filled with epic lead solos (my beloved) and rolling basses which gives you the image of a speeding car at night.

2020 turned out to be an interesting year to say the least so I had to leave my mark on it. From social injustice issues finally coming to light, to a worldwide pandemic, we have endured difficult circumstances. The biggest takeaway from this year for me is as follows: “the only way to survive is through unity”. Together we can right the wrongs of the past, and heal from the damages that occurred over the course of this year. “Next Generation” refers to life beyond 2020, where we can move on and learn from our mistakes, and not return back to normal, but create an environment better than what was once considered normal, where everyone can flourish and grow. We can continue to live life to the fullest from here on out with an open mind, where we can create a better world for the “Next Generation”

Hailing from Mississauga, Canada, SHERK's passion for music started at a young age, singing and playing the piano and saxophone in his elementary school talent shows. At 13, he discovered the record label “Monstercat”, which ultimately influenced his love for EDM. Soon thereafter, he began producing on his laptop and djing at friend’s houses, experimenting with different styles and developing his sound. 7 years later, SHERK is having the time of his life, following his dream of sharing his music to the world and playing at clubs in Edmonton such as The Chvrch of John.

He is currently attending the University of Waterloo where he has met and collaborated with various local artists along with artists from around the world. SHERK has received positive feedback from international sensations like REGGIO and aims to keep growing while building a positive community around himself, having a real impact on people. The future looks bright for this young artist as he has big plans in store for 2023. 

SHERK is definitely a name you want to look out for.
