Getting rich is an addiction that only a few people can afford to have. It’s difficult to viably enter the arena of wealth accumulation when you are aging or otherwise not already rich.

I recently listened to multiple songs by POPSTAR1 on the Spotify top 50 playlist. POPSTAR1 is an extremely successful celebrity and has a net worth of around $75 million dollars. He is incomparably more successful than me. I have messed up a lot of opportunities to become more successful, like a lot of people I know who are failing to thrive. 

I was making art but I never made it with the intention to make money and it never did. POPSTAR1 is making a lot of money.

My song “Your Own Weight In Gold” is inspired by my reaction to some (but honestly, not all) of POPSTAR1's music. These are the song’s lyrics:

I am currently working on the recording but I have included the latest version as a CD. It sounds amazing to me on my bass amp. I worship my bass amp when I play music at home. I wish I had a bigger bass amp but it’s probably safer that I don’t. My tinnitus would be worse.

There is something hellish about loving loud music. It causes you to experience irreparable damage to your ears, akin to taking pleasure in clawing your eyes. I love loud music but being around people is generally painful, so I spend a lot of time alone with my amp.

Anhedonia happens, one too many people tell you you suck and suddenly all music is a reminder that you’re garbage and people have hated you since childhood and it’s ok, that’s the past. What matters now is that we all need to immediately start working together to save the world.

After writing the song “Your Own Weight In Gold”, I decided to verify my intuition about the masses of gold possessed by the world’s wealthiest people. I calculated the dollar value of 150 pounds in gold and set that as my unit of measurement: one person in gold. (value of gold used was from February 23, 2020)

A person in gold = 150 pounds of gold = 3.191 million dollars

POPSTAR1 is worth $75 million dollars, which equates to 23.50 people in gold. 

23.5 people in gold = 23 * 150 pounds = 3450 pounds of gold

POPSTAR1’s 75 million dollar fortune is the equivalent to over 3450 pounds of gold, the weight of 23.5 150 pound people.
