This story was borne from the desire for healing amongst our close friends and community in making sense of a painful loss. We found that one of our most powerful medicines was in the creation of beautiful and silly worlds for our nieces, nephews and niblings to explore and delight in. This is how these stories came to be - they’re meant to be shared with the young people around us.

“On Our Way” combines the sweet falsetto of Yesseh Furaha-Ali and soulful voice of Kayla Childs with the kind of modern thump that will please the palate of many groove-loving head-nodders. Lush strings compliment horn acrobatics throughout, and soulful vocals float atop thick, funky drum rhythms.

From the first strike of the guitar riff, this song catches the ear and delivers a thoughtful, well-constructed & hard-hitting dish of soul. For a band of young guns, it’s clear that they’ve done their homework; tastes of Mayfield, D’angelo, The Roots, and the El Michaels Affair are artfully mixed into a sound that gracefully anchors these influences into Omar’s Hat’s own, Philly-raised musical persona.
