엄마가 돌아가신 후 나는 자연스레 친정에서의 생활을 마무리 하고 남편이 공부하고 사역하고 있는 이 곳 미국 보스턴에 다시 돌아왔다. 
이곳에 와서 사랑하는 남편과, 소중한 교회 공동체, 그리고 언제 어디서나 늘 힘이 되어주는 가족과 친구들의 아낌 없는 응원 속에 지난 1년을 돌아보니 수많은 사랑과 위로로 가득 찬 한 해 였다.
그렇지만 행복하고 즐거운 일상들의 모습과 함께 마음 한켠에 수시로 찾아오는 엄마에 대한 그리움과 슬픔에는 단 하루도 예외가 없었다. 
엄마가 그립고 보고싶은 날엔 철저하게 혼자 남은 것 같은 공허감이 마음 가운데 자리했다.
그럴때면 내가 그토록 믿고 따르던 무소부재 하시다는 하나님 마저 나의 삶의  자리와 시간 가운데 부재하시는 것같았다. 
씨에스 루이스의 “내게 종교적 진리에 대해 말해주면 기쁘게 경청하겠다. 종교적 의미에 대해 말해주면 순종하여 듣겠다. 그러나 종교적 위안에 대해서는 말하지 말라.” 라는 말이 지난 1년간 나의 가장 솔직한 심정을 대변해주었듯이. 
인간이 이 세상에 태어난 이상 누구나 틀림없이 꼭 마주해야 하는 ‘죽음’의 순간.
그 죽음의 순간과 죽음 뒤의 영원함으로의 시간을 먼저 걸어간 엄마의 발자취가 늘 궁금했고 그것은 결국 나의 마음과 영혼 속 깊이 영원을 향한 온전한 기대와 소망으로 바뀌는 시간이 되었다. 
그러고나서야 죽음도 삶의 일부임을 인정하고 깨닫는다. 
하나님이 나에게 허락하신 주어진 유한한 시간 속에서 영원을 바라며 주어진 일상 가운데 영원처럼 살아가는 것.
우리의 삶과 영원에 이르기까지 하나님의 사랑이 못미치는 때와 장소는 없다.
현재의 삶부터 영원에 이르기까지 사랑 안에서 승리하는 삶 되길 기도한다.

사랑하는 엄마의 1주기를 맞아 곡 작업을 해보았어요. 
코로나로 인해 모두가 참 힘든 시간들을 지나고 있지만 사랑과 감사로 승리하는 연말 됩시다요. ✨✨
