There are many reasons for recording this mix. First, this is the fortieth anniversary, and your greetings, which I simply could not ignore, secondly, the last time this series was published 5 years ago and a lot of music that I collected managed to get old and lose interest, the third is the number of subscriptions to the channel which is roughly suitable for 2.5 k music-loving hearts. 2013年にリリースした7インチ・シングル2枚、大貫妙子「都会」のラヴァーズ・ロック・カヴァー、
Dennis Brown"Love Has Found It"s Way"をレイドバック・ディスコ・カヴァーが大きな話題になるとともに、
2014年に8年ぶりにリリースされたコンピレーション・アルバム『RELAXIN WITH JAPANESE LOVERS Vol.5』に
共に収録されるという快挙を達成。満を持して、シングル第3弾がリリース決定です。
今回のお題は、Haul&Oatsの代表曲"I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)"で、
De La Soulの"Say No Go"でもサンプリングされたブレイクビーツ・クラシック。
なんと濱のメロウ集団より、ギタリストのKASHIFをヴォーカルに迎え、
洒脱で力の抜けた爽やかレゲエ・ディスコに仕上がりました。

『I CAN'T GO FOR THAT』の絶品カヴァーによる超キラーなこの7インチ！
これを僕は70年代UKラヴァーズの傍流に位置するあのデニス・ボヴェルが手掛けたグループ、
ウエポン・オブ・ピースやジョン・カパイのソロ『red gold and blues』、もしくはジョージ・オバン（アズワド）の
実験的なユニット、モーションあたりの所謂レゲエ＋フュージョンによるミクスチャー・ラヴァーズの系譜に繋がる
まさに’15年型フュージョン・レゲエの最高傑作と呼びたい！
地を這うようにグルーヴするベースライン、煌びやかに天空を駆ける甘いギターの調べに乗せて歌うは
横浜の〈PAN PACIFIC PLAYA（PPP）〉のキーマン、カシーフ！
各所で引っ張りだこのギタリストでもある彼を敢えてヴォーカリストのみで贅沢に起用。
アーバン＆メロウな極上ディスコ・アレンジとカシーフのシティ・ポップス・フレイヴァー溢れる
オリエンタルなシルキー・ヴォイスの融合、それはジャマイカ、イギリス、アメリカ、横浜、

「大貫妙子/都会」のラヴァーズ・カバーと「DENNIS BROWN/LOVE HAS～」のディスコ・アレンジ・カバーは
言うまでもなく最高だったんですが、今作も選曲/ゲスト含め間違いない仕上がり！　
レゲエのカバー文化を逆手に取った簡易的な内容も多い中、
レゲエ畑でないHFIが提案するカバーの方向性はとても惹き込まれるし、
アレンジの妙というかこだわりが音に表れてると思います。

Mahalo returns to LAMP with his second release on the imprint 'Midnight Delight'. It marks a strong follow up from his stellar rework of 'I Wish It Would Rain' by the Temptations and first original release of 2016. After a series of widely popular remixes and original work (including an EP and single on Sleazy Deep and Brooklyn Fire respectively) the Hawaiian born LA based producer is setting his sights on some big releases and charts this year. His constant ability to traverse a wide range of genres continues to demonstrate the producers skill and creativity in the studio. 

'Midnight Delight' is a luscious blend of harmonizing piano chords, a deep, melody-driven bass and a provocative guitar lead that encapsulate the vibe of a late night drive through the city. Snappy percussion layers supplement a pumping kick drum to provide a driving rhythm to the track's sultry groove. An electrifying guitar solo captivates the listener during the breakdown with mesmerizing effect in each passing run. As the title suggests this track is best consumed at the peak hours of the night setting you on cruise control until sunrise.
